Minka Kelly and Mischa Barton, representing 100% of Hollywood’s “M i – - a” starlets, have both been cast in new CW series slated for next fall.
Kelly, whose “Friday Night Lights” character is off to college next season, will play the lead in the CW’s “Body Politic,” about a young woman who moves to D.C. to work for her father (the Attorney General) after her mother dies. Prediction: everyone on the show will be thirty times better-looking than anyone who actually works in politics. [THR]
Barton, the “O.C.” alum who has barely worked since her character was killed off at the end of Season 3 (probably because she’s a terrible actress), was rumored to be joining the cast of the new “Melrose Place.” Instead, she’ll star in “A Beautiful Life,” about “a group of models living together in a co-ed residence in New York.” [THR]
Golly, a supermodel and a woman who gets a job because her dad is the Attorney General. TV executives are so good at making characters I can really identify with! We’re practically the same people!

So what character does Mischa Barton play? Is she one of their assistants? Or maybe a makeup artist? Or one of the main characters’ ugly older sister who is trying to kick an amphetamine addiction she developed after consistently being outshined by her younger, non-grotesque sibling? Because she goddamn well better not be one of the models. If I saw her walking down the runway at a fashion show I’d find the designer, pull out his eyes and sell them to someone in Hong Kong, and sew the sockets shut with his own sewing machine, because he’s obviously not using them for anything.
Whatever, just so long as they stay the Hell off my lawn.
