tv-babies“Honey, where’s the baby?”  “In the TV room, by the viper cage.”

Somebody actually paid money for a study of television’s effect on infants, and surprise!  TV is bad for babies.

A new study showed that viewing TV as an infant doesn’t improve a child’s language and visual motor skills, disputing claims made by products such as Baby Einstein and Brainy Baby…

“TV exposure in infants has been associated with increased risk of obesity, attention problems and decreased sleep quality,” said Michael Rich, the pediatrician who directs the Center on Media and Child Health and contributing author on this study. “Parents need to understand that infants and toddlers do not learn or benefit in any way from viewing TV at an early age.”

Welp, there’s the last two generations explained.  On the other hand, parents point out, TV makes babies quiet, which beats the hell out of dealing with the goddam kid and reading to it or some shit.
