TRACY MORGAN IS BRIAN FELLOW(S)
03.16.09Tracy Morgan returned to “Saturday Night Live” to host this weekend, and it ended up being a disappointing show. The writers seemed to be under the impression that “Hey, anything Tracy Morgan says is funny, so let’s just take the week off.” And yes, anything Tracy Morgan says is funny, but that doesn’t mean you can just put him in a wig and call it a day. Or maybe I just set my standards too high for Tracy Morgan. It is, after all, “Saturday Night Live.” I should be used to disappointment.
Above: possibly the best of the sketches (Morgan’s intro was good, too) — and I say that even though I’m annoyed that the character’s name is “Brian Fellows” while the screen credits call it “Brian Fellow’s Safari Planet.” When will our nation’s sketch comedians finally start respecting apostrophe placement? Is nothing sacred?
Below: a solid digital short starring Andy Samberg and Bill Hader. And get this: it’s not a rap song.

Actually, even back in the day Morgan was pretty iffy with the Fellow/Fellows. He seemed to hit about .500.
I thought Astronaut Jones was the best – but I DID watch it at 5AM after partying and was drunk and high off my mind.
Back when he was a cast member, Tracy used to say “Fellow” as it was written on the screen. I think he walked through the wrong door, realized it was SNL, and just checked out for the evening.
Maybe Tracy is more “Jordan” than “Morgan” these days. You can clearly hear the voice over announce the character as Brian Fellow.
I fell asleep after jerking off to Kelly’s first song.
Wait. What happened on Mad TV?
Ah, but you can never go wrong with an Astronaut Jones skit.
People still watch SNL?
I had always assumed that it was part of the Brian Fellow character that he just didn’t know his name didn’t have an s at the end.
Yeah, weekend update was really bad this week.
Kelly Clarkson should rename the song “I Do Not Hook Up” to “You Know I Give Good Head.”
I liked the dog movie one, too. It started strong but died an ugly death in the second half. I was particularly disappointed by the “Big Love” sketch — which had real potential — and a really weak Weekend Update.
And Kelly Clarkson’s fat ass didn’t help any.
It’s good for laying face down on a waterslide.
Aww, I thought there were a couple solid sketches. I liked the dog movie one. I also loved the line “I was just frying up some chicken legs to feed to my sharks.”
