Spike TV is developing a new reality show called “Pirate Hunters: USN” that will document the U.S. Navy’s ongoing efforts to curtail the hijacking of vessels (seajacking?) off the Horn of Africa. From The Live Feed:
The US Navy is allowing Spike and production company 44 Blue in-depth access as they embark on their mission from a military base in the seaside nation of Djibouti (bordering Somalia and Ethiopia) and on the open water.
Cameras will capture life aboard two US warships (the USS San Antonio and USS Boxer), as they patrol the Gulf of Aden for pirates who hijack commercial transport vessels.
Good luck with that, Spike. I spent two and a half months aboard the Boxer crossing two oceans and over half the world in 2003, and the only time anything interesting happened was when we got off the ship. What I wouldn’t have given for some African pirates back then. Those guys really know how to (wait for it… wait…) parrrrrrrrty.

They should call it “Djibouti Call”
How come this could be turned into a reality show, but you cant do the same thing with something in Iraq or Afghanistan? Or if you can then why hasnt anyone done so?
But they wouldn’t approve my proposed series “Buggery on the High Seas”? i call bullshit!
Pirate Djibouti is the best kind of pirate booty there is.
Better or worse than FOX’s short-lived “PIRATE MASTER”?
I believe they’ve hired Geena Davis.
I assume peter sarsgaard will be hosting this show?
