After last night’s episode of “The Simpsons,” this video of an a capella group singing the show’s theme song played over the closing credits, giving these freaks new hope that they haven’t wasted their lives by continuing to sing in a capella groups after leaving college. The YouTube description says that the performance, by a group called Canvas, happened in 2000, and the video has made the internet fanboy rounds since it was posted in June 2007.
And I’ll be honest: it’s impressive. It’s impressive that this particular cross-breed of nerd went undicovered for so long. Like, it wasn’t enough to be a fully-grown adult in an a capella group; someone was also a big enough Simpsons geek to write an a capella arrangement of the theme song. And then execute it in public. You can really smell the poindextrose.
But hey, it got them about 40 seconds of airtime during the closing credits of “The Simpsons,” so they can die in peace now. Assuming they haven’t already been hunted to extinction. You wouldn’t believe the black market for nerd pelts.

You can’t take a pitch pipe out of someone’s hand when they’re in the middle of a very funky groove!
Which one is the Nard Dog?
In fairness, this *might* have been more enjoyable than the entirety of Sit Down & Shut Up.
There’s internet fanboys for a Capella singing groups?
Jazz Hands!
Or Newsradio’s, Chock Full of Notes.
HERE COMES TREBLE.
You need to start using FD’s “People who should be burned for fuel” tag for stuff like this.
