snl-motherlover

Justin Timberlake hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the third time this weekend, and he did that thing where he’s just really good at everything he does, from singing his monologue to giving life to dull/annoying skits to having his girlfriend Jessica Biel introduce musical guest Ciara because he was playing the keyboard and singing backup for her.  I will no longer apologize for liking him.

The highlight of the episode was the “Immigrant Tale” skit — in which Timberlake managed to make bragging about his life pretty damn funny — followed by the digital short “Motherlover,” a sequel to the Internet landmark “Dick in a Box.”  In “Motherlover,” the faux-’90s soul men played by Timberlake and Andy Samberg sing about celebrating Mother’s Day with their mothers (played by Patricia Clarkson and Susan Sarandon).  It might not be as catchy as “Dick in a Box,” but it’s certainly a worthy follow-up.  You know, because the art of viral comedy videos demands that the medium not be sullied by watered-down sequels.  Watch both videos after the jump.
