06.04.09 CZECH AWARDS SHOWS ARE DANGEROUS

If BuzzFeed is to be believed, this is Czech TV personality Jan Kraus falling into a hole in the middle of the stage at the Miss 2009 competition.  Why is there a hole in the middle of the stage?  Why does it look like it was filmed in the ’90s?  I’m not sure, but it probably has something to do with it being the Czech Republic.  I like to assume that all former Soviet bloc countries are stuck with obsolete technology and crumbling infrastructure.  There’s no reason for that; it’s just the easiest way for me to bring up the Cold War.  Hey, remember when the Russian army bitch-slapped Alexander Dubček’s Prague Spring?  Take that, Czechs!  That’s what you get for trying to grant your citizens human rights!

…Hello?  Anyone?  Because I can do some other Cold War jokes.  I’ve got some about Francis Gary Powers flying a U2 that absolutely killed in 1960.  Okay, maybe tomorrow.
