HOW AWESOME IS THIS? – UPDATE

I’ve spent entirely too much time writing about late-night shows recently, especially “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.” But I have to satisfy my comedic nerdiness by pointing out that Conan’s guests last night were Norm MacDonald and Jim Gaffigan (video clips below). For any non-believers: Conan wrote the monorail episode of “The Simpsons,” Norm intentionally bombed at the Bob Saget roast, and Gaffigan once did three and a half minutes of jokes about bacon. Amazing. That’s a mere Patton Oswalt away from having a Mount Rushmore of underrated comedy geek heroes.
Of course, every one of these guys is the kind of comic that doesn’t appeal to Leno-loving old people, and Conan’s musical guest was indie darling Neko Case, so I won’t be surprised when the news comes that Letterman — who had Denzel Washington and the freakin’ Jonas Brothers last night — won in Thursday’s ratings. But I don’t care. Most people don’t have taste. Last night’s “Tonight Show” kicked ass. Period.
UNSURPRISING UPDATE: Letterman 3.5, Conan 3.0. You’re so predictable, America.

Loved the episode, Norm is awesome….there was a disturbing lack of Pale Force, however. Are Jim and Conan too big for that now? Hell, they’re as pale as ever.
I love CoCo as much as the next guy who actually has comedic taste, but I can’t be part of the “People who like David Letterman are old and unfunny” crowd. For all his faults, Letterman has piled up a healthy amount of awesome over the past 30 years, and I salute him.
/watching TiVo’d CoCo now; salivating at historic McDonald/Gaffigan combo.
I literally smiled for an hour straight from watching last nights Conan. Hearing Norm say the word “Whore” about 20 times in frame of 15 seconds was awesome.
In the words of Ricky Gervais.
“I dont want most people to like me or the stuff I do because most people are morons.”
Andy’s back-and-forth with Norm is the best thing I’ve seen on late night TV since Conan’s focus group bit.

Don’t worry Letterman can’t beat him forever. The guy’s 108 years old and has had at least 1 quadruple bypass.
Plus he’s really not that funny anymore.

I like Daniel Tosh. I think he’s pretty funny. I HATE that fucking “Talk Soup” format that is spreading like wildfire. It soured me on what could have been a quality, funny half hour. Anyone else with me?
Pffffffffft. 4 and a half minutes of bacon jokes? I once wrote 22 minutes of jokes based on rump roasts. Everyone knows the real comedy is in cows.
I love Gaffigan but his whale bit last night was weak.

Norm killled it…have you been watching Tosh.O at all? It’s been pretty funny so far.
