06.26.09 MR. EKO HAS TO GET BACK TO THE ISLAND!
Another example of black-on-black crime. So sad.
Fans of “Lost” were disappointed when ultimate badass Mr. Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, or as I call him, Triple-A) was killed off by the Smoke Monster in Season 3. Although that was a result of him begging out of his contract, he now says he’d like to return to the show. From TV Guide earlier this week:
[AAA] asked to be released from his role as Mr. Eko after his parents passed away in 2006. “It was a very traumatic year,” he says. The Brit would now welcome a return to Hawaii and a fat paycheck from ABC. “To be able to give that rich character some completion would be nice,” says Adewale.
On any other show, it might seem unreasonable to bring a character back after he’s died. But rules don’t apply to “Lost.” Mr. Eko could come back in hundreds of different ways. Flashback. Hallucination. Ghost. Long lost twin. Smoke Monster takes Eko’s shape. Time travel. Angel. Parallel dimension. Personally, I’d like to see the polar bear come back, stand on its hind legs and roar, then the bear’s chest unzips and Mr. Eko steps out. He got reincarnated as himself inside a polar bear suit before he ever died! There was, uh, a wormhole or something.
