The change from from analog television to the new digital feed has had at least one unusual side effect: Utah officials are asking that residents not destroy their old TV sets with firearms.
The people at the Bureau of Land Management in Utah’s west desert are worried some folks might want to use their old sets for target practice.
With the recent switch to all digital television, there are plenty of TVs collecting dust. The BLM warns that electronic devices like TVs, computer monitors and even cell phones potentially toxic elements. If they’re not disposed of properly, the devices pose a threat to the environment. Officials say it can cost up to seven-grand to clean-up a shot-up TV set.
Personally, I don’t think I’d go to all the trouble of taking my TV outside to shoot it. I’m much more likely to do it right here in my apartment. Especially if the remote died and “Entourage” was about to start. (People wanna talk about guns like I ain’t got none. What, you think I sold ‘em all?)

I have GOT to move to the state where the answer to “it’s not working” is firearms.
$7,000 to clean up a shot up TV? Hey Utah. I’ll personally clean up every shot up TV for $3500.
Yet another thing Elvis was ahead of his time in.
Now all you get is hate mail all day saying Uff fell off
I’ve seen bumper stickers that say “kill your tv”, but the people driving those cars don’t look like they belong to the NRA.
Utah would prefer you use your bullets on black people and gays. TVs cost money to clean up.
p.s. I still wear my khakis with a cuff and a crease. My mom’s good at ironing!
+1 for the Dr. Dre reference.
