07.10.09 ‘DAYMAN’ ALWAYS CHEERS ME UP

As a promotion for the next season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” FX made this compilation of “Sunny” fans singing the famed “Dayman” from the show’s “The Nightman Cometh” episode.  (I’ve included the original clip of “Dayman” after the jump in case you’re not familiar).  “Dayman” is probably the only song that I like getting stuck in my head.  I’d get it as my ring tone, if I anyone ever called me.

And why the hell is “It’s Always Sunny” stuck on FX?  This is a Grade-A, genuinely funny sitcom trapped on a little-watched cable channel.  FX is owned by Fox — execs could easily call it up to the big leagues, but instead we get “The Cleveland Show” spin-off of “Family Guy.”  But I guess I shouldn’t expect more from the people who canceled “Arrested Development.”  They’re still working on the concept of breathing through their nose.

Probably because Sunny… is so blisteringly profane that it would melt a censor’s face like he was a Nazi in front of the Ark.

True, but being on FX allows them to be more vulgar (and thus, hilarious). Funniest show on the tele.

Absolutely right. A solid comedy of a show. And the episodes have very high re-watch value.

Shit, does this mean I have to move Ted Leo and Of Montreal out of the Bands I Hate column?

Its the only show on tv right now where i miss lines of dialogue because I’m laughing so hard. The characters are all awful human beings yet I find myself rooting for them to succeed in their shitbrained schemes each week (even though i know they won’t). Its the antithesis of every cheeseball CBS everyday guy + hot wife = family comedy suckfest.

@Otto Man- Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER lose an ounce of your distaste for Of Montreal. People like us have to keep fighting the good fight.

They were profane on Arrested and the bleeps made if funny, especially when you weren’t quite sure what they were saying.

This is actually a smart move by Fox. FX is the place for shows that are really good, yet would get murdered by network censors. Nip/Tuck, the Shield, Sunny, Sons of Anarchy, all very entertaining shows that would have to be scaled back considerably on Fox.

Panty Man says:

@dickey–I agree, except about Nip/Suck. That show eats a bag of cock.
