07.16.09 SURE, MAKE OUT WITH SOMEONE YOU CAN’T SEE

ABC’s “Dating in the Dark” premieres next Monday.  As you can see, it’s about people who go on dates in complete darkness (watch an additional preview clip below for more context).

“Dating” is based on a Talpa format called “Blind Love,” which puts three single men and three single women together in a house. The participants have been scientifically matched for compatibility.

During the course of several days, the six people interact with each other, taking part in various dating activities. The catch is that everything takes place in complete darkness; producers use night-vision technology to capture the action.

At the end of each episode, participants are given a chance to see what they all look like in the light. They then decide whether to move forward with their budding relationships. [TV Week]

Too bad this is on ABC.  ABC’s way too sincere and earnest in its approach to love (see also: “The Bachelor;” “The Bachelorette”).  Now Fox, there’s a channel that would have done this right.  Fox would be all,  “Surprise!  You made out with a goat!  You’re under arrest for bestiality.”
