True story: the Saturday after 9/11 my brother in law was in town from New Jersey. He worked in a service industry and mentioned that many of his customers worked at or near Ground Zero and were concerned about their jobs. I told him I had heard that the NYFD was hiring.

The moral of the story is for some people (especially assholes like me), it is never too soon.
