Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader (Fox) — Larry the Cable Guy plays for $1 million (I assume for charity). An easy way to figure out if you’re smarter than a 5th grader is if you find Larry the Cable Guy an unfunny hack. Be sure to listen for his catch phrase, “Go accomplish that!” (Also, I’m not suggesting anything here, but he’d be a great celebrity death for Celebocalypse ’09.)
Eureka (Syfy) — From Yahoo TV: “‘Eureka’ isn’t your average American small town. It’s actually a top-secret residential development created by people like Albert Einstein and President Truman to protect and nurture America’s most valuable intellectual resources.” I got invited to live there but the chicks were all ugly. They’re calling this a “mid-season premiere,” because it stopped airing in the middle of the season last September.
The Assistants (The N) — New show about four assistants working for a big-time movie producer. The N is something I’d never heard of until I started writing about TV — apparently it’s an offshoot of Nickelodeon targeted at teenagers. It’s harmless and not addictive, but detractors call it a “gateway channel” to hardcore stupidity like MTV.
The Soup (E!) — I bring this up because news just hit that Ken Jeong — the awesome Asian guy from Knocked Up and The Hangover — will play Senor Chong, a Spanish professor on Joel McHale’s “Community” next fall. Awesome. That’s already my new favorite show.
The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS) — Rainn Wilson is the first guest; you can tune in right after watching the first 25 minutes of “Conan” to avoid Paul Shaffer.
Enjoy your Friday night, everyone. Be sure to check back in this weekend — I’ve got a couple more posts lined up.

I actually live in Eureka, California, and I can assure you that “America’s most valuable intellectual resources” are not quartered here. You are, however, correct about the girls.
Fox sure does have the primary school educated demographic cornered with this show and Fox News
Oh, theres gonna be some whale wars tonight.
Who will emerge victorious – My junk or my wife? stay tuned!
Ken Jeong was the one unfunny thing about The Hangover. It was like a white dude channeling Long Duk Dong.
No whale jokes? Damn
