Al Franken playing Senator Paul Tsongas was about the only funny thing he did on SNL, but it was pretty funny.

Christ, that was good. He really nailed the Kermit voice that Tsongas had.

That Clarence Thomas skit was hysterical — Franken as Paul Simon, Carvey as Strom Thurmond, Hartman as Ted Kennedy, Nealon as Joe Biden, and Farley as Howell Heflin.

“Sen. Strom Thurmond: I agree with Senator Heflin. Yeah, that’s right! The women like something with more stories and costumes, that’ll transport ‘em to another place and time. That’s right! Women don’t like close-ups of oversized genitalia! That’s just never gonna turn ‘em on!”
