BREAKING WEEDS PART 4
08.06.09
“Breaking Bad” has proven to be a more serious show at every turn. Despite employing some extremely talented comedic actors, the show is no comedy. Any funny moments that do slip by are so caked in tragedy they mostly serve as a chance for the audience to start breathing again. That alone gives “Breaking Bad” the leg up and I have been a vocal proponent, not only of the show but of its superiority to “Weeds” which I decided had become placid and docile. “Breaking Bad” has dealt with consequences and morality in a much more deep, meaningful and interesting way than Weeds. That is until this last episode of “Weeds”.
I am proud to say that “Weeds” is bringing it again. I don’t know if it was the breast feeding scene between Andy and Nancy or the shocking finale which actually managed to surprise me, but I am actually interested to see where it goes from here. Granted, “Breaking Bad” is off the air and the season 2 DVDs aren’t out yet, so there really isn’t anywhere else to go for my vicarious drug dealing thrills. But until there is, “Weeds”, you got my attention back.
Tomorrow, more normal posts!

Weeds and Entourage are simply mindless fun bubblegum shows for the brain and whenever the show or fans take it too seriously, it gets retarded. Weeds even back in the glory days of seasons 1 and 2 was never ‘awesome’, it was just ‘acceptable’. Like the size of my weiner.
Thanks for all the comments guys. Sorry if you didn’t like it (not that sorry really) and great if you did. Tomorrow… The Nightman Cometh!
SHIT!!! Do I fap or take a bong hit? CANNOT DECIDE!!!

Bravo. This little rant that the guest blogger has posted makes me smile in my pants. You should start your own blog, if you haven’t already. I would frequent it daily, as long as there are posts such as.
I’m with you on your assessment of Weeds up until Season 3, that is when we part ways, and when the series went downhill. Characters went on bombastic storyline arcs– for example, Andy’s run as a private in the army, then caterer, then porn-star, all in the span of like 3 episodes. Celia was all of a sudden vulnerable and reluctant to shag. Dean became an invalid. Nancy had that retarded short lived run at friendship with Agent Wonderbread’s Ex-Wife. It was awful.
However, in my eyes, all was forgiven in Season 4, where everything was blown up (quite literally) and they started over. Albert Brooks was excellent as the grandpa, Silas got to nail Happy Gilmore’s girlfriend, Celia went ape-shit on prescription drugs, Shane was steady jerking it to his Mom, Andy and Doug were coyotes, and Nancy finally grew a conscience.
Anyway, haven’t seen Season 5 yet, and Weeds was never a great show, even at its peak, but my point was that it showed a lot of balls to pack-up and leave Agrestic and start anew in Renmar, thus avoiding the dreaded shark jump. Cheers.
I was thinking the same thing. How could a show on basic cable about drugs come close to being good. Breaking Bad is not only great, but it is an experience. I am not comfortable watching it, just like in real life I wouldnt be comfortable around people tweaking.
Weeds went to shit after they left the suburbs and I havent watched it since the middle of last season, so I have no idea what is going on in that show.
Weeds is a soap opera, straight up. You don’t have a baby with some political guy in Mexico that is also a drug dealer while your 2 kids at home plot on how to get away and deal drugs on their own without having your show be a soap opera. Season 1 and 2 were ok though…
stare*. Fail
What? You mean Weeds didn’t always just used to be an excuse to start at MLP for 30 minutes?
