URGE. TO KILL… RISING!
08.13.09This is a “Nightline” report on toddler beauty pageants that pulls most of its material from TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras.” It’s eight minutes long. At two minutes, my eye started twitching. Just before the four-minute mark, I became physically ill and had to stop watching. And yet Michelle Collins of Best Week Ever, who ordinarily seems charming and not insane, claims that “T&T” is “one of the most hilarious and yet genuinely entertaining programs to come out of the basic cable landscape this summer.”
I’m sorry, I know train wrecks can be fun to watch, but that doesn’t mean I feel right poking through twisted steel to see the mutilated bodies. TLC is nothing more than a 21st century freak show — note the watermark in the lower right advertising “Treeman Meets Treeman” (more here) — and the people who tune in today are the same people who paid a nickel to gawk at the bearded lady a hundred and twenty years ago. The only difference is that now it’s free, and the bearded lady is your mom.

That shit is fucked, bordering on child abuse. Especially for the boys being entered into this shit. I have 2 daughters who are so beautiful they don’t need a sick fuck baby beauty pageant.
/end rant
@ UU
What’s fucked up about gussying up a 3yr old to look like a miniature sex doll, and then having them compete for attention and approval from a panel of hypercritical sociopaths, all while instilling them with a value set that would make the monsters on “Sweet Sixteen” call them self-centered?
good points DG. It turns my stomach.
You are all just jealous that I want to bang their daughters and not yours. Quit hating.
@UU, DG: Yeah, but how do you KNOW your daughters are beautiful if they’re not judged as such by antisocial losers?
How to respond to people who say your daughter should be in a pageant: “No thanks — we still love her.”

Go sick, boss. Actually nailing those kids would be a light dusting of trauma compared to what their parents have saddled them with already.
/would rather see children raised by the mulleted Nazi from earlier today to anyone involved in these pageants.
I shall never tire of your overdependence upon vintage Simpsons quotes. It is good to know I am not the only one who suffers from this affliction.
Wow…I feel the need to get a box of SOS pads and scrub myself clean till I’m bleeding.
MediaCurves.com just conducted a study with 300 viewers of a video featuring the recent controversy surrounding child beauty pageants. The results showed that the majority of viewers reported that “disturbed” and “sad” were the emotions the felt most while watching the video. The study found that 84% of viewers reported that they felt the long-term effect on contestants was negative. For more in-depth results, please visit [www.mediacurves.com].
