This is the new trailer for HBO’s “The Pacific,” the ten-part, $200 million miniseries about Marines in World War II that will air next March. Here’s what I wrote when the first trailer hit the web in June:
Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, the story is based on the memoirs Helmet for My Pillow and With the Old Breed as well as the life of John Basilone, one of the greatest heroes in Marine Corps history… I can confirm that this looks as good as “Band of Brothers,” but with more sex and flamethrowers. And “more sex and flamethrowers” is all I ever ask of life.
I actually liked the first trailer a little better (this one doesn’t involve sex), but I still got goosebumps and a giant Marine vet boner while watching this. I’m so motivated I’m gonna go do some cock push-ups right now. “Your cock can support your whole weight?” “Not at first.”
(thanks to Oscar for the tip)

I fear the impact that Channel 7 Australia may have on this – they are are the Jay Leno of Australian television stations and they have a co-production role.
Music from the end of the trailer is from “The Passion”. I don’t know if Mel Gibson would support a TV show about people fighting for the Jews…
I don’t remember any c*ck pushups in FGB.
…and there’s a Basilone Drive offramp at San Onofre, just north of Pendleton…so we honor this hero with a street near a nuke plant.
Sometimes when I read MoH citations I get a little misty.
Ahem.
God bless you for quoting the D! You rocked my fucking socks off!
Just keep David Schwimmer away from this one, HBO.
Bon Jovi told me that instead of a helmet, you should use an old coat for a pillow. And the earth for a bed.
This is by far the best thing 2010 will have. I watched BoB last week, it always left me hoping for a Pacific miniseries. I just can’t believe it took 9 years, it’s like Tom Hanks or Spiely have done anything worth watching since BoB and Saving Private Ryan.
