Over the weekend, Tina Fey and Justin Timberlake won Emmy awards for their guest spots on “Saturday Night Live” last season (Fey for her Sarah Palin impression, Timberlake for his episode hosting) during the creative arts portion of the Emmys, which doesn’t get aired on TV because it’s too boring. Too boring for the Emmys. Think about that for a second.
It marked Fey’s sixth career win, and she is in contention for two awards at the main ceremony, including best comedy actress. Timberlake won his second career Emmy, this time for playing various characters on an episode of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” that he hosted.
The top network was Time Warner Inc’s HBO, which won 16 awards led by “Grey Gardens” and the Iraq war miniseries “Generation Kill” with three each. [THR]
I don’t have much to say about Fey or Timberlake, so this seems like a good time to bring up how awesome “Generation Kill” was. It was an excellent series of articles in Rolling Stone, then it was an excellent book by Evan Wright, then David Simon made the seven-episode miniseries and it got even better. The details were so uncanny that I got flashbacks. And while that’s bad for the neighbors awakened by the screaming in my nightmares, it’s good for everyone else who enjoys realistic portrayals of war. Thanks Mr. Simon! **plays Russian roulette**

I would have quoted the word work instead of SNL. To imply it was an attempt at humor thrown together in an SNL “we love to put the guy with the Jew nose and T-lake together and put em in costumes” type way.

That’s an interesting coincidence, because I was forced to watch Grey Gardens on an airplane, and it featured women from two generations of the Kennedy family, both of whom I wanted to kill.
My best friend tried to join the marine’s after watching that series. I dunno, it’s top 10in my book but I had the opposite reaction.
Also my sister’s boyfriend won an Emmy for special effects work on Heroes, upsetting the juggernaut that was Battlestar Galactica.
