Aw, don’t waste ‘em on the fruits!
Modern Family (ABC) — In his first appearance on primetime TV (save a voice role on “The Simpsons”), Edward Norton guest stars as the bassist for Spandau Ballet. I saw a preview clip, and let me just say: beware of the mullet. Also appearing tonight: Elizabeth Banks (pictured) as Mitchell and Cameron’s wild girlfriend. RAWR! More pictures of Banks in tonight’s episode here.
South Park (Comedy Central) — Season 13 finale. Whoa, the season’s over already? I feel like it just started.
Glee (Fox) — In tonight’s episode, Jane Lynch is hilarious, some people in relationships tell unrealistic lies, and there’s more gay stuff than in a West Village locker room.
America’s Next Top Model (CW) — Season finale. I hope the short girl that wins this season invests her prize money, because it’ll be the last she ever works as a runway model.
Extreme Obesity: A Big Medicine Special (Discovery Health) — People who have undergone gastric bypass surgery discuss consequences like eating disorders and drug addiction. Also an option: regular exercise starting at a young age.
Top Chef (Bravo) — It’s been apparent since about the third week that the fat dude with the beard is gonna win, and the two brothers will get second and third — then murder each other.
Note: For anyone who was disappointed by the lack of “Sons of Anarchy” discussion today, I apologize. I agree: it was a freaking amazing episode. To scratch your SAMCRO itch, check out Alan Sepinwall’s recap. Also, for no other reason than it made me laugh, I present you with Cats 4 Gold.

I’m with you farthammer. When I was 22, my girlfriend at the time was working at Boston Pizza. I had a couple other friends that worked there too, so when I was done work I’d head down to BP’s, eat pasta and drink 2-3 schooners. For those unfamilier with what a schooner is, it’s a 28oz mug of draft beer. Needless to say by the time I was 25, I’d gone from 270lbs(just after my senior season of college ball) to 317lbs. I was still mobile and fairly athletic…but the ugliest beer gut you’ve ever seen…and man titties.
So I went back to the gym and set a goal of 260lbs by the time I turned 30. Now just 29, I weigh 248lbs and you can see 3 1/2 of my ab muscles.
Hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, I had to change almost every habit in my life but it was worth it. I still have a schooner or two from time to time, but it’s rare. Anyone can do it, gastric bypass is for quitters and lazy people.
And now we know the origins of the name “Farthammer.”
At one point I got up to 300 pounds (6’2″). I am now in the 230 neighborhood. You know how? I stopped drinking 8-12 beers 6 nights a week, stopped eating fast food all the time, and started working out.
People who get gastric bypass surgery, for the most part, make me want to shit in their mouths.
“Edward Norton guest stars as the bassist for Spandau Ballet.”
Spandau Ballet? SPANDAU BALLET???? Oh, the humanity….why Ed, why?
It’d be way cooler if he played the keytarist from Bronski Beat.
I bet they feel foolish. If they had known how easy it is to keep the weight off with drug addiction and eating disorders, they could have avoided the gastric bypass altogether.
ah ah ah aaaaahhh aaaahhh….I know this…much…is….TRUUUUUUE

//used to make fun of that video in college
Fine, network primetime.
So I guess Ed Norton wasn’t in that one episode of Stella? Ohhhh snap.
Spandau Ballet? Unless you are over the age of 35, watched a lot of MTV in the early 80′s and possibly gay, there is a good chance you have never heard of that band.
