DAMN YOU, BRITAIN!
12.03.09Back in June, I wrote about a new show for the UK’s Channel Four starring Will Arnett, David Cross, and Spike Jonze called “The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.” It sounded awesome.
Here’s the first clip. It is awesome. You really can’t go wrong with Will Arnett swearing at people and David Cross lying like an awkward little weasel. HBO needs to buy the American rights to this with a quickness. I want more of this immediately. Like yesterday immediately.

Just watched the first episode. I am a huge fan of David Cross but this was really disappointing. Cross and Arnett were brilliant as always (the scene where Todd leaves his cat is hilarious) but the writing is patchy. It all starts out promisingly enough but quite quickly runs out of steam. The “Dave” character is totally unsympathetic, painfully unfunny, and badly acted – hope he isn’t going to be a major character – he really doesn’t fit with the tone or style of rest of the show. Sorry but if the second episode isn’t a lot better than the first I just don’t see this being around for long.
This show only airs in the UK (where i live) yet if i try to watch the youtube clip it tells me “This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions.” oh the irony..
OK, now this looks like a LOT of fun dude!

The way this works is about a dozen pilots get made – of which this is one – then they are all shown, and the popular ones get picked up for a full season. So it’s up to the brits as to whether this thing sees the light of day. The second to last scene of the pilot is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen David Cross do.
That was the best use of 3:27 since your mom
(Modern Family…looks like you might have competition for new favorite show)
You had me at “fucktard”.
I don’t know the rules, so I won’t post a link, but Comedy.Showcase.S02E03.WS.PDTV.XviD-CaRaT should help a bit.
Arnett cursing seemed a little forced. But nice job, nonetheless.
It;s part of comedy showcase which is a kind of annual thing on channel 4 where they show single shot comedy pilots. A couple do tend to get picked up and become series, but of course in the 6 episode to fuckin short to be really good way we insist on doing things over here.
speaking as a huge fan of arrested development and most things arnett and cross are in, I must say the actual pilot was pretty weak. There was a brilliant scene or two but other than that it wasnt funny. Maybe they’re just attracting the lowest common denominator for the first episode and bringing in the funny stuff later on. hopefully.
Fuck, david looks old these days
So you give me three minutes for free, and now I can’t follow up on it?
Fucking tease.
What kind of country do we live in, where we cant watch our own great comedians be funny? This would be like denying Australians the right to bust a gut to the great Paul Hogan in “Crocadile Dundee”.
This aired in November? I never saw it advertised. Better make use of Aquemini’s link.
I would watch a channel where precious, hipster directors just get screamed at. The line up: Lars von Trier, Spike-y, Wes Anderson, PT Anderson.. get in line, boys. David Cross has got a cd.

For Brits only maybe.
It’s a portion of the pilot. He showed it when he did stand up in AZ and apparently they’re working on a series. Brilliantly funny.
i think it’s a single-episode story that’s part of a series of unconnected one-episode stories, not an entire show. but i might just not understand how they do tv over there, i don’t know.
As long as they keep Michael Cera’s smug ass away, I’m cool with it.
I’m surprised Will Arnett has time in his schedule to work on this show, what with the runaway success of Sit Down, Shut Up
Wow, there has to be some way to watch this show on-line. Please tell me there is.
