‘DEXTER’ BREAKS SHOWTIME RECORDS
12.15.09Sunday night’s Season 4 finale of “Dexter” smashed all sorts of Showtime records, including highest number of people chastising for me not writing about a show.
The brutal “Dexter” closer drew 2.6 million viewers, ranking as the most-watched series episode ever on Showtime, and the most-watched telecast on the network since a Mike Tyson fight in 1999. “Dexter” was 54% higher than last year’s finale. [THR]
I’ve never really gotten into “Dexter,” but I did manage to read all about the thrilling finale with the crazy twist. If you want to bathe in the memory of Season 4, you can read the strong recaps from the A.V. Club and Alan Sepinwall. You can also read the bitchy one from Salon, in which the writer — who avidly watches a show in which the protagonist is a serial killer — gets angry when a baby is sitting in blood. “Wah wah wah, this show that entertains me crossed an arbitrary line that exists only in my head. HOW DARE THEY!!!!!”

Rita sucks! Finally she is gone.
Rita > Deb
And just because a woman who has blonde hair and big tits doesn’t guarantee job security.
Tom, it should. NO ONE DENIES THIS. She was in fucking RAMBO for fuck’s sake!!!
Jennifer a bad actress? Please. She was outstanding this season. 1000 times better than the pilot episode of Dexter. She’s vastly improved. And just because a woman who has blonde hair and big tits doesn’t guarantee job security.
I know we hate reality butting into our TV storylines, but Rita had a point. Dexter was never home to help with three kids and kept his old pad after getting married without telling his wife. Try that in real life with the old lady and what do you get? Essentially, you get Rita.
It’s a cliche for a reason. Women who get ignored and lied to turn into…annoying nags. Rita annoyed me too, but she had a point. She was never going to have a happy ending anyway, as stated above.
I really like this show though. It’s inching closer to VENTURE BROTHERS every season.
It was a good finale I heard there was a shock ending so it seemed very possible from the start of the episode Rita was gonna get it, but the shock ending does not make it a great season.
Carpenter might be the worst actor ever (saw quarantine) and Rita is smoking hot and its not her fault the writers made her character into an annoying nag.
I don’t know EP, Carpenter has gotten a lot better in the last two seasons and put in some good work. They just need to use her better.
They won’t kill off the main character’s real life wife.
Then again, I never thought they would bump off Rita. I am still shocked by that. You are right though, smoking hot and great tits.
Enrico Pallazzo:
Does hotness and tit-size define acting ability? That’s the way you just made it sound…
Rita is much hotter than Deb and has bigger tits = Deb should have been killed. Jennifer Carpenter is the worst actress of all time.

/I’m still waiting on that Mad Men finale recap, fucko!!!
Yeah, if you look back, the author of that post has always bitched about Dexter. Someone should point out to him/her that the queasy feeling the show gives them is *the point*.
*Dances naked in blood to celebrate the first Dexter post*
Too much?
Dexter is a sociopath. He can’t have a happy ending.
How did the Salon writer not connect the image of the baby in a pool of blood to the whole first season of the show? It’s poetic. Dark, but poetic.
bathe in the memory
Yay, puns!
Glad I’m not the only one who, on a daily basis, is told “you NEED to watch this show.”
Rita died.
Too soon?
The Salon writer is a dumbass. Yeah, let’s suggest a happy, feel-good progression of events in a show centered around a serial killer. What, did she expect that by season 8, Dexter would be cured, happy, and moving to Maine with his ever-growing family of recently-converted Mormons?
And yeah, you really should have watched this season, if only to see John Lithgow nude about 17 times. WTF.
