Sunday night’s Season 4 finale of “Dexter” smashed all sorts of Showtime records, including highest number of people chastising for me not writing about a show.

The brutal “Dexter” closer drew 2.6 million viewers, ranking as the most-watched series episode ever on Showtime, and the most-watched telecast on the network since a Mike Tyson fight in 1999. “Dexter” was 54% higher than last year’s finale. [THR]

I’ve never really gotten into “Dexter,” but I did manage to read all about the thrilling finale with the crazy twist. If you want to bathe in the memory of Season 4, you can read the strong recaps from the A.V. Club and Alan Sepinwall. You can also read the bitchy one from Salon, in which the writer — who avidly watches a show in which the protagonist is a serial killer — gets angry when a baby is sitting in blood. “Wah wah wah, this show that entertains me crossed an arbitrary line that exists only in my head. HOW DARE THEY!!!!!”
