Grizzwald Chapman, the actor who plays Grizz on “30 Rock,” revealed on “The Dr. Oz Show” that his severe hypertension has led to almost complete kidney failure, a condition for which he undergoes dialysis three times a week while he waits for a kidney transplant. The episode airs tomorrow, but you can read all about it now. Frowny faces ahead:

He is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, but must lose over 75 pounds before he’s considered a viable candidate. Even then, the wait is at least five years…

In the episode, Chapman reveals that he ignored his high blood pressure for 10 years, even refusing to take medication for his condition… “It’s a painful problem for physicians to see because it’s preventable,” Oz said. “There are more than 25,000 cases of kidney failure in America each year because of high blood pressure, and the African-American community is especially at risk.

Of course, the season finale of “30 Rock” last year (titled “Kidney Now!”) had Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) trying to find a kidney donor for his biological father (played by Alan Alda), the result of which was the star-studded performance of “He Needs a Kidney” (lyrics here). So, uhhhhh… where the F you at now, Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow?
