ITALY’S GOT A SUSAN BOYLE RIP-OFF
12.21.09The delicate flower pictured here is Carmen Masola, who appeared on the premiere episode of “Italy’s Got Talent” as the token Susan Boyle “troll with a golden voice” character. Wow, a fat lady who’s good at singing opera? What a shocking development. This must be the first time in recorded history such a thing has happened. From Variety:
Carmen Masola, a decidedly non-photogenic former newsstand agent, competently belted out the “Casta Diva” aria from Vincenzo Bellini’s “Norma,” leaving co-host Gerry Scotti teary-eyed.
“Ay! You sing-a so pretty!”
But Corriere della Sera columnist Aldo Grasso echoed many critics when he complained the talent show had “no experimentation, no research, no new ideas: They are just mechanically adapting this foreign format to an Italian context.”
Grasso added, “It’s just like ‘Britain’s Got Talent, but greasier. Ayyyy!” (Full video below)

Fatuous snark. How is this woman a “ripoff” of Susan Boyle? Doesn’t one say “wow” at great singing as such? What difference does it make that this Italian lady is obese? Critics with no critical faculty or power of articulation resort to mouthing dimwitted cynicism instead, I guess.
Don’t know if this woman will be as successful as Susan, I read here http://bit.ly/7xnPYP she’s doing the new Bond theme.
Italian knock off of a Brit…
So the wiring is a nightmare, Burns oil…
looks more like Arkansas Has Talent.
“Casta Diva” has to be some sort of jingle for a pizza shop.

Is the grand prize a sweet, fuckin’ Camaro?
Damn you Cowell!
Over here, they started off as Pop Idol and Britain’s Got Talent, but now his creations have spawned into this vile juggernaut that shows no sign of slowing down.
These shows and Big Brother, which is ending next year, drive me nuts.
Wait a second. This lady’s Italian? But there’s no orange glow to her skin, no poof in her hair, no large visible tattoos, and no sign of being a borderline retarded narcissist.
This is basically the exact opposite of the previous post.
