If you think TLC had exploited every possible iteration of little people, large families, the creation of sweets, and children in pageants, guess again: a one-hour special called “Little Chocolatiers” will air on December 21st (next Monday) that will focus on the lives of Steve Hatch and Katie Masterson, married little people who run Salt Lake City’s Hatch Family Chocolates.
Can two little people who own a chocolate shop produce 600 chocolate dice for a casino night party? And how will they build a life-sized, all chocolate flower garden for a couple’s fifth anniversary complete a project that’s bigger than they are? [TLC]
I don’t know is they can handle such a BIG project. Maybe if they HAD TEN CHILDREN IMMEDIATELY to help out around the shop, it could boost ratings make life easier for them. Hey, they live in Utah. They could do it just to fit in. Although I imagine they already fit in most places. That’s a midget joke, son.

love the show
I think you people shouldn’t comment on something you know nothing about…my son is a lp and an amazing little boy, have you ever met an lp? have you ever stopped to think each one of us are packeged differently..God specially packaged my son and he has been a blessing and brought people in our lives who have made me realize how amazing an lp is
I can understand your resentment as a Mom of an LP. I’m sure your son is special and amazing – to you. But not all LP’s are special, nor are they all amazing.
Amy Roloff is determined to prove that despite her short stature, she can do it all. But she can’t. She can’t keep her kids in line, she can’t make her husband feel special, and she can’t keep her home even marginally tidy.
Zach is a sullen, slovenly, lazy, mouthy young man. He is by no means special in any way. He didn’t work to pass his high school courses, but somehow passed anyway, (did TLC help? He thought he had the skills to coach a soccer team but he doesn’t have the skills to get along with his own family. He refuses to help his Father in any of the many projects on the farm. He won’t pick up after himself in the home. He has yet to say, “please”, “may I”, or “thank you”. He barely speaks to his sister and bullies his younger brother.
Not all LP’s are special, or even likeable.
I agree that making fun of little people is childish, but I understand the jokes poked at TLC and the little people who choose to exploit themselves on the network. If television wanted to do a series on an African American family for no other reason than the color of their skin, I hope that they and all America would be offended. Why watch some random people I don’t know on tv living their life just like I do? I would rather live my own life and spend time with real people.
TLC obviously has a midget fetish
I’m appalled and disgusted by the ignorance, stupidity, and/or total lack of understanding and compassion that 99% of the previous posters have displayed. Since you must all live under rocks, here’s a current update for you: The correct description is Little Person. Calling someone a “midget” is as disrespectful and insulting as calling an African American the “N Word”. Grow up and stop the grade-school name calling and “jokes”, which aren’t funny.
I just searched to find this show… it is great.. the people are warm and lovely… and I appreciate good chocolate and it’s custom designs, now more than ever… I am happy to know that there will be 6 more episodes of this lovely family! Perhaps if we had a lot more TV like this, we would be all be a little sweeter!!!

once again, dwarf talent being exploited far from what they intended. LOL :-) if you came here or to TLC looking for oompa loompas, there are far better places to look!
I thought the show was very good. Good for them to continue on with his families business. If any of you here watched the show, it was informative. Did you know Little People are denied health coverage because their dwafism is a pre exsiting condition?
Midget is a term used to describe an exceptionally short person. It generally refers to a person with the medical condition of dwarfism. The terms “midget” and “dwarf” are often used synonymously, as both terms mean someone who has been short in stature since birth, but those terms were not originally synonyms.
Midget is a term that was originally coined in 1865, referring to an extremely short person with limbs similarly proportioned to his body as an average-size person’s.[1] P. T. Barnum indirectly helped popularize “midget” when he began featuring General Tom Thumb in his circus. Dwarf was originally used to denote those with short limbs as compared to those who had proportioned limbs. Like many other older terms, “midget” has become part of popular language, although it was often used in a pejorative sense When applied to a person who is very short, midget is an example of the euphemism treadmill
Look at all of you and your short jokes. Hands down the best chocolate I have ever had. Not cheap but worth every penny. No surprise the TLC is putting this one on. Guess everyone missed the name change to The Little Channel. Been a loyal customer for 4 years, HFC rules.
We have purchased all of our company holiday gifts from this store for the last couple of years, because my boss likes to keep the money within the local business community. But this year we got two large boxes of their chocolates for a total of $100. It was chocolate not chocolate with gold dusting for God sakes.
I think they’ll find the audience is a little…….small.
YEEEEEAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
Exactly what do people learn from watching this channel? Don’t be a midget?
UU, midget fun-size, and let me tell you … I’ve had it up to here with ‘em. /holds hand at knees
Fun size is just a cruel joke when your stubby hands are fumbling with a candy wrapper.
KP, big people fun size or midget fun size?
Hatch loves to sell chocolate, but refuses to eat it himself because he heard it might stunt your growth.
All of the chocolate made will be fun-size.
I hear their chocolate shop is a rip off. You always get short changed.
TLC spares no expense. Except when it comes to copy editors.
I was sure this was The Onion spoofing TLC’s surreal reality show lineup.
Midgets Making Chocolate sounds like the title of a German scat porno.
You know it’s bad when I read the headline and say, “Oh it’s FO… no, it’s TLC.”
