Set your DVRs, people. Jon Stewart is going to a guest on Bill O’Reilly’s show in a two-part interview that will air Wednesday and Thursday. The two have gone head-to-head twice that I know of: in 2004, Stewart went on “The O’Reilly Factor” to promote America: The Book, and O’Reilly appeared on “The Daily Show” after the 2008 election to promote one of his books (both video clips are embedded below). But nobody has a book to promote this time, and given Barack Obama’s in-person smackdown of the GOP and its refusal to engage in bipartisanship, we’ve got the table set for fireworks tomorrow.
Although why someone would set a table with fireworks, I don’t know. You should really set tables with place mats and eating utensils, not explosive devices. Otherwise someone might get hurt dinner. Which is why this should be compelling television.

I think this sums it up nicely:

Seriously, there’s a joke about mid-way that references Obama and lunch that will, if you’re drinking, make you spray. You’ve been warned. :)
Stupid conservatives, like Colbert himself says you’re only pissed cos reality itself has a liberal bias.
I keep forgetting to come back to threads that I comment on… On my last post, you should read along the lines of “me fail English? That’s unpossible!”
I didn’t really see the Obama/GOP thing, but from the fragment that I quoted – Obama was calling out the GOP for failing to be bipartisan? That’s just plain funny. The last year the Democrats had the majority in the House and a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. He didn’t need them to do a damn thing and made that known quite frequently. I laugh at both sides when they use phrases geared toward the other party moving to their position as “bipartisan.” The kabuki of DC is entertaining. It’s always the other guy’s fault.
Since you seem open to the debating the issue and you are ok with it on your blog:
1. To accuse Republican’s of not acting in a bipartisan manner, after they were locked out of any meeting where the crafting of any meaningful legislation took place, is rather hypocritical.
2. By saying the GOP will not act in a bipartisan manner is claiming they are being obstructionists, which they could not really be because the Democrats had big enough majorities in the House and Senate to pass any legislation that they could agree between themselves.
3. The Health Care bill was specifically handled in a way to avoid any GOP input, with the exception of the Senate Finance committee. The reason there was no conference committee on the bill is because the GOP would have been able to have input during the process.
4. If you really want to crow about Obama’s performance in front on the GOP retreat after receiving less than favorable reviews on his SOTU speech and Scott Brown’s win in Mass., go a head. However it is sort of like talking about how great the retreat was after losing a major battle. And even in that performance Obama admitted that he was not being truthful about the Health care legislation when he said that provisions in the bill would prevent patients from keeping their doctors after promising it would not.
“making an accusation about one political party that is highly debatable, while clearly siding with the other, does not come off as centrist”
“Centrist” is not synonymous with “never taking sides.” In this one instance, yes, Uff is agreeing with a Democrat and criticizing a Republican PR machine. If he does it 50 more times without ever criticizing a Democrat then you may have a point. Until then, enjoy the boobs and dick jokes.
I’m a Marine OEF and OIF veteran
Then you know all about suffering and not getting your way. I dole out scorn to both MSNBC and Fox, but I think I do a pretty good job of ignoring both. I appreciate the feedback, but you’ll have to deal with this — what? Once a month? It’s a pretty rare instance that this happens, and I’d highly debate your claim about my claim being “highly” debatable.
Matt,
I’m a Marine OEF and OIF veteran and like i said earlier, I love the Marine smart ass humor on this blog. However, making an accusation about one political party that is highly debatable, while clearly siding with the other, does not come off as centrist. It also makes it feel like this blog is hostile to readers who have opposing political views. If someone wants that, they can either go read Fox or MSNBC.
It’s your blog and you can do with it as you want. I am just offering some feedback.
“given Barack Obama’s in-person smackdown of the GOP and its refusal to engage in bipartisanship”
This sentence is laughs at your logic.
You quoted a fragment and wrote grammatical nonsense. That’s either really stupid or brilliant beyond my comprehension.
Listen, people. I’m a centrist. I’m an Iraq War vet who makes no apologies about my part in deposing Saddam Hussein. But Obama debated rhetoric with facts, and if the GOP didn’t look bad, then why was Fox News the only news network that cut away from the coverage?
When these two get together it is always a television event.
RABBLE! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!
DG,
I’m with dat dude. You start injecting political commentary into a blog doesn’t specialize in politics and things can get really heated really quick.
I find Warming Glow very funny and well written. It is the author’s blog and he can do with it as he sees fit. I’m just putting in a request as regular reader.
i hear ya, but i also think it’s pretty clear that this blog has avoided making political statements in the past. i’m just saying i prefer it that way. (obviously) just my opinion.
@ punky & dat dude
#1 – The post is about a notable television event coming up in the relatively near future.
#2 – This is a television blog.
#3 – It is written by a person who includes his commentary and opinion in every post, whether it be on little people, large breasted women, Japanese television, dogs wearing neckties, or (GASP!) politics.
I’m not sayin’ … I’m just sayin’.
i second punky. on one hand, the statement about the gop and obama is debatable. on the other hand, my need to fly to japan and steal that dog who smiles is not up for debate of any kind. more of the latter, less of the former.
“given Barack Obama’s in-person smackdown of the GOP and its refusal to engage in bipartisanship”

Keep up the political commentary. Do not separate.
When I want smart ass Marine humor about TV shows I come to Warming Glow.
When I want political commentary, I’ll go to Fox, MSNBC, or any other political website.
Can we please try and keep the two separate?
HOW CAN YOU BE TALKING ABOUT POLITICAL HORSESHIT WHEN THE GODDAMN DUGGAR’S DEBUT TONIGHT!!!
/kills self
O’Reilly went on the daily show shortly after Stewart went on the factor. that was a good interview as well.
^it’s called Irish, jackass.
well at least no one’s paying attention to Chris Matthews.
name and town, people. name and town.
I always prefer when Colbert and O’Reilly go at it. O’Reilly (who the fuck has 2 capital letters in their last name, anyway? Well fiddle dee dee, your highness) always seems like he’s worried Colbert’s about to try to lick his face, or something. There’s nothing that makes me happier than an awkward conservative.
I don’t get why they’d be enemies. O’Reilly’s not even a conservative. He said so himself.
