Another satisfied Emmy voter
Below is the trailer for Season 2 of “United States of Tara,” the Diablo Cody-penned Showtime series that won Toni Collette an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Collette plays Tara, the married mother of two who struggles with dissociative identity disorder, which is what the 21st century is calling “multiple personality disorder.” The new season debuts March 22nd.
I’m a fan of Collette’s, and I like John Corbett (who plays her husband), and I can even tolerate Diablo Cody for long stretches of time, but this series has never held my attention (although the new trailer did give me one solid laugh). Part of it’s my own fault: I’m not particularly drawn to characters with mental disorders, so I never get drawn into the conflicts that Tara’s personality changes create. And, if I really want to nitpick, it’s not exactly a “united states” of Tara. Much more a confederacy.

@Xang: Wiki says she’s 37, but she looks substantially older (>44); My guess is probably because of excessive life-long tanning, she has that kind of skin. The pics on her Wiki page are sufficient backup to my argument. IMDB has pictures of her standing with Cameron Diaz (who is the same age) and she looks like she could be her mom.

@Taco: Perhaps. I’ve probably got hypomania, and I definitely have some word-related OCD. But you don’t see me having a shitload of drama that makes a TV show, do you? Hell no! People with mental disorders need to just bury that shit and pick themselves up by the bootstraps. Stop being so crazy!
