If you didn’t watch the first episode of “The Pacific” on Sunday night, I’ll spare you the lecture and merely inform you that you also missed the debut of the new trailer for “Boardwalk Empire” (video below), the Prohibition-era drama produced by Martin Scorsese. The series stars Steve Buscemi as Atlantic City gangster Nucky Thompson, and features Michael K. Williams (pictured, better known as Omar from “The Wire”) and puffy-lipped candyboy Michael Pitt (The Dreamers). It also features zoot suits, Tommy guns, sawed-off shotguns, sledgehammers, Klansmen, swearing, blood, sex, and women in cakes. Honestly, the trailer looks like Miller’s Crossing re-cut with Scorsese’s taste for modern music. And I can’t possibly think of higher praise than that.
