CONAN’S DOING HIS TOUR FOR FREE

As if we needed further proof that Conan O’Brien is not only funnier than Jay Leno, but also a decent human being compared to the back-stabbing car-hoarder, TMZ has learned that O’Brien will perform his 30-city tour of stage shows for no pay. He’s doing it just so his staff — which didn’t, you know, get a $32.5M buyout — can earn some scratch.
We’re told roughly 40 people have been hired to work on the production — many of whom are “Tonight Show” alums.
Shows sold out so quickly yesterday that second shows were added in New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, LA, and Vancouver. Oh, and the poster for the tour? The artist who created it back in January out of support for Team Coco back in January GOT PAID. Although frankly, I like my version a little better. Fatcat and Birthday Dog make such an incredible team.

Just to be clear, these shows aren’t free. Conan’s just not taking any money.
I was wondering about that 32.5$ million buyout – so that wasn’t for him and his staff, just for him? Damn, Coco makin JaMarcus Russell money son.
Leno only went to Detroit so he could spend some millions on new cars, then decided to try out some new material on the locals.
Bad Leno.
I, meanwhile, am seeing Conan in Universal City. Which is basically jizzing distance from NBC’s offices. The scene of the crime!
Leno went to Detroit–was that part of a USO tour?
all I was trying to do is play devils advocate here. I live in the Detroit metro area and Leno did some free shows. this post was about how Conan is awesome (and he is) but he’s not even coming to Detroit for this tour.
^ And I’m sure his shows did lots and lots to cheer them up. I think I read somewhere that his shows helped lower the unemployment rate by a number directly in correlation to the increase in the suicide rate.
I don’t want to seem like I’m on Leno’s side here, but he did to a bunch of free Detroit shows last year for people out of work.
