Michael Emerson, better known as Benjamin Linus on “Lost,” first creeped out fans of the show when his character was captured and imprisoned by the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. And though Ben Linus may have been the one in the cell, he turned his captors into quarry with his mind games and creepy eye sockets.
Rewind 18 years, and young Michael Emerson plays Mr. Andrews, a prison counselor to a violent inmate named Higgins in a 1992 training video for prison guards (see video below). It’s a little unsettling. I keep wanting Emerson to mindf*ck Higgins into shooting his cell mate, or for Emerson to be the one in prison, quietly driving the guards insane.
Anyway, it’s worth a watch. But it definitely would’ve been better if Mr. Eko/Adibisi played Higgins.

OK, here’s the thing. I’ve been to prisons. Not saying as an inmate, but I’ve been on the inside for different reasons (for example, bailing out people being put down by the man), and I have never seen a pretty woman in there, let alone two. I mean, what is this video trying to accomplish by putting them in there? FUCK I HATE DIVERSITY CASTING JUST TO SAY YOU DID!
He was a creepy little sucker even back then.
Brilliant actor, though.
He sounds just like Jimmy Stewart when he’s on the phone. And he kind of looks like Steve Buschemi…before the “accident”.
Weird, he kind of reminds me of Pete Campbell in this clip. Maybe its the suit, the hair, and the smarmy, overconfident for no reason demeanor.
Higgins should have been played by Higgins from Magnum PI.
My point (I meant) he doesn’t seem to have one now, it could just be me
You know what’s awesome? Waking up and checking your Facebook to see a bazillion status updates from pissed off Lost fans. At this rate the disappointing finale may be orgasmic.
Hey, some of us just have high hairlines!
/not balding since age 16
Weird that 18 years ago he seemed to have a receding hairline.
