Leave Revolution Islam Alone!
04.23.10I’m getting pretty tired of everyone coming down so hard on Revolution Islam, the group that warned Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they were probably in danger because “South Park” denigrated the image of the Prophet Mohammed. Last night, Jon Stewart spent ten minutes talking about freedom of speech and censorship on “The Daily Show” that culminated in a crude epithet towards the Muslim group (see video below), and this morning the Revolution Islam website was hacked (inset).
Revolution Islam did NOT threaten Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They merely used their own freedom of speech to warn Stone and Parker of dangerous religious zealots, while at the same time standing up for a revered icon in their religion. As an act of solidarity, I created the most respectful image of Mohammed I could imagine. You’ll note that the prophet has taken the mighty form of Godzilla, and he’s firing lasers from his eyes and mouth to destroy the godless hedonists at the Rehab pool party in Las Vegas, America’s most prominent symbol of sin. Whatever your feelings about Islam, you have to admit, Godzillahammed is pretty sweet.
Man, it feels good to stand up for what’s right. And since Revolution Islam and I are both based in New York, I welcome them to thank me in person.

If they lay finger on Matt Stone and Trey Parker, we should nuke Mecca. Just sayin’
Based on their marketing materials, I was under the impression that the crowd at Rehab would look like this. Instead, all I see are a bunch of tubby guys. I can’t believe that advertisers would lie to me like this.
Godzillahammed is fine, but he’s not going to convert me from worshiping Bearotaur.
Can’t wait until he fights that dirty Jew Mothra Nagila.
How the hell was it not a threat? You have to be comically naive to believe that their wasn’t a veiled threat of violence in RevolutionMuslim’s “you know, if you do that, people may get angry, wink wink” statement. It isn’t like they were warning them about other Muslims who would overreact; they are affiliated with the people that they are warning about. The website has anti-American material, supports Osama-Bin Laden, and celebrates the anniversary of 9/11. Why would you want to defend these fucking extremists? They weren’t merely using free speech, they were threatening violence to enact fear-based change.
Know what I wish these radical Muslims would blow up? Smiley face balloons, which they’d then give to orphans.
You’re totally right, Circa. Gosh, I can’t believe I took the stance that I did. I’m sorry, everyone.
@Circa: Were you under the impression that Ufford was “defend[ing] these fucking extremists” by posting an image they would find even more offensive? Is that what you think? Well if that’s what you think, I have something to tell you. Something which may shock and discredit you. And that thing is as follows:
I’m not wearing a tie at allyou’re a goddamed idiot.I wouldn’t worry too much. I’m sure they’d rather concentrate their evil efforts on a frail, wise-cracking Jew on television than a Marine on the Internet.
I also hope that everyone else can read my words at face value as well as Circa did, and also understand that my appropriation of Mohammed’s image onto a Japanese movie monster, with laser beams shooting from his face, was meant sincerely and respectfully.
You fucking twit.
Last year, CNN asked one of the founders of the radical group in New York to explain its philosophy.
Younes Mohammed chose his words carefully, telling CNN he saw nothing wrong with Americans dying in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack.
“I don’t think it was wrong,” Mohammed said. “I think it was justified.”
He added, however, he does not encourage any violence on U.S. soil.
And Mohammed said he also doesn’t see anything wrong with his messages — he dislikes the United States and he yearns for a Muslim world.
“We’re commanded to terrorize the disbelievers and this is a religion …,” Mohammed said. “The Quran says very clearly, in the Arabic language … terrorize them. It’s a command from Allah.”
I’m not saying he should have killed her, but I understand – C.Rock
Hahahahah ‘thank’ or TANK?
I’m curious to know how Matt parks a 70ton Abrams tank in Park Slope without running over all the baby strollers.
I’m with Circa. We should keep an eye on them. These “muslims” might be trouble in the future.
MechaJesus scoffs at puny Godzillahammed!
Barack Obama doesn’t care about South Park.
Justified. When’s it on and shit?
In the sequal can Godzillahamed do battle with Lobster-Dog from filmdrunk? I want epic photoshop!! So long as they don’t decide to make the gif in 3D.
I’m writing a book about this topic “Sarcasm is From Venus and Rubes Are From Mars”
Think I’ll get sued?
Could I least get an honorable Fatwa mention? Hacked to death sounds so glamorous too.
Matt, I always envisioned the prophet muhammad to resemble Ultra Man, but everyone’s impression of Him is different.
More like HoMohammed, amirite?
I bet they felt so stupid once they realized it was Santa in that bear suit all along.
haha, fucking awesome. anything that annoys muslims is ok in my book. also, if the south park thing doesn’t piss you off enough, check this out: [www.youtube.com]
I don’t care if they want to threaten people or not. I’m just mad at them because now I have to take my shoes off at the airport. I hate that shit!
Matt, I’m totally waiting for the news blurb that reads “former marine and current TV Blogger thwarts muslim extremists attempts to murder him”. They’d be wise not to take you on.
You could be carrying nothing but a spork and i’d still place a wager you’d be the last man standing. You, my friend, KICK ASS!!
(but just in case, load up that .45)
Bringing over the “it’s satire, people” tag from ksk might have cleared up the confusion. You know, for those who think depicting Mohammad as a Japanese monster is siding with Muslim extremists.
Wait, you mean Mohammad isn’t a Japanese monster? Well fuck me sideways, this alters my entire world view.
/The image of Matt rolling through Brooklyn in an Abrams and running over Hipsters makes me smile. It’s like Tianamen Square but in a good way.
If you want to do it right, do it right (See WWTDD)
HOLY FTMFW. Absolutely brilliant Uff. And the stupidity of your readers is beyond belief
/wipes drool from corner of mouth with cheetos stained sweatshirt
the site was revolutionmuslim.com not revolutionislam.com. someone just made that and put it up, t’aint a ‘hack’. but the revolutionmuslim website has been down for a few days.
RIP Ass Dan 1971-2010
@Nitty, if you think WWTDD does it right and I don’t, feel free to stay over there. You certainly don’t add anything of worth to the discussion.
Ooh, SNAP!!
@ng – seriously? You mean instead of putting thought into a well written piece of satire just call network execs babies and move on to the umpteenth story about Lindsay Lohan?
/wipes Uffords brown off nose and goes back to work
@ufford – really, I’m just in the afterglow of you affirming my man-crush on Jon Stewart. You’re normally pretty light on the Daily Show coverage
I love you all. Now line up and I’ll show you how much.
I kid. Sort of.
Uff go easy on nittygritty. If you scare him off, who will tell us The Pacific sucks because it’s not violent enough??

“They merely used their own freedom of speech to warn Stone and Parker of dangerous religious zealots, while at the same time standing up for a revered icon in their religion.”
Maybe I’m an idiot too, but I don’t see how this statement was sarcastic. Is it obvious that what they said is not protected under freedom of speech? Is it that obvious that this group I’ve never heard of before is dangerous? Is it funny that they revere an icon of their religion? This statement sounds like something that would honestly be used as a defense of the group, not something that is exaggerated to imply sarcasm.
I got that the rest of the post was a joke, but this sentence confused me about its intentions.
I think this is extremely insensitive and childish. If you want to talk about this group revolution Islam that’s fine but its very ridiculous how you are disrespecting and ridiculing a prominent religious leader and the founder of a religion. This is very wrong
Theo Van Gogh approves. He also has chest pain.
@ justlikejames
*takes deep breath* That statement might be considered something that “would honestly be used as a defense of the group,” if not for the exceptionally blasphemous image above it. Hence, the sarcasm.
Kindly like me saying, “+1 – good point justlikejames,” while rolling my eyes and making a dismissive wanking motion.
Take you fear mongering of artists and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine. The people of the US want freedom for the Palestinian, Iraqi, and Afghani people’s by way of the US military getting out of the Iraq and Afghanistan and stopping the funding of the IDF. But, what we don’t want is religious wacko’s assassinating artists or threatening artists. The guys at South Park were threatened with assassination, period, and you are lying about it. Go jump in the toilet with your Mohammad, Jesus, Budda, or who ever the f… you’re killing and threatening over. Just say no to theocracy and all it’s murder, threats, and control trips. Just say yes to freedom of artists and their art.
If these “revolutionmuslim” guys hate america so damn much, then why are they still living in america? they may hate America, but they sure don’t seem to mind that american money…
Can I have permission to put Godzillahammed on a t-shirt?
@ Nitty – I assume “doing it right” involves using piss poor grammar and the same three recycled jokes?
lol very funny post
By the way, here’s some additional information on Revolution Muslim and their supporters you guys may be interested in:

The Revolution Muslim guys were all once normal Americans before they converted to Islam. Crazy stuff!
Ah yes. Born again martyrs. ALWAYS the life of the party.

Greg Loyer -leave all other religious leaders out of this saga or ga gawrong or right real or not they did not run arround killing people Mohammed did after he died his followers did the same to each other =the shites and sunnies. I aint worried about the spelling. in a muslem world if some one dies not like you you are as good as dead.
A vail is not in place ups your dead. I am not sure who the radical muslems hate more south park or women.
