I really don’t want to cover every bit of Conan O’Brien news. Honest, I really don’t. But his mug is all up in everywhere today. Here’s the rundown:

  • The New York Times has quotes from his coming interview on “60 Minutes”: “[Leno] went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know– I know me, I wouldn’t have done that.”
  • Time named him one the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010, and the second most influential artist. Number one is Lady Gaga.
  • In an interview with City Pages, keyboardist Al Kooper says Max Weinberg no longer fronts (backs?) Conan’s band. “They let him go. This is a big transition, and they’re all signing new contracts and everything so they replaced him, as far as I know.”

I have absolutely nothing to add to this whatsoever. I love me some Conan, and I’ll probably watch “60 Minutes” on Sunday for the interview and Andy Rooney’s liver-spotted eyebrow party, but other than that I need a break. Conan in the news cycle is like a really hot girlfriend who wants to sleep over every night. It’s like, “You’re really hot, but I need some space to myself.” At least, that’s what I imagine it would be like.
