“The Hard Times of RJ Berger” will debut after the MTV Movie Awards on June 6th, and the new trailer (embedded below) shows that MTV might actually be kind of trying to create some decent scripted shows. Which isn’t to say that this will actually be good; I just appreciate that this isn’t previous “Real World” cast members playing tug-of-war on a beach.

Anyway, as discussed before, “Hard Times” is about a dorky high school kid whose big wang gets exposed to the school, thus changing his social status. It’s not a particularly original conceit, and there’s nary a scene in the trailer that doesn’t feel lifted from a previous teen/high school comedy: Fast Times at Ridgemont High, American Pie, Napoleon Dynamite, and so on. Now, don’t get me wrong: I like MILFs and bikini car washes and high school girls in lingerie just as much as the next drunken veteran-turned-blogger, but… But I’m not sure how to finish that sentence. I guess I just really like MILFs and bikini car washes and high school girls in lingerie. Keep up the good work, MTV!
