Fox News harpy Laura Ingraham was a guest on “The Colbert Report” last night, and Stephen Colbert did that thing where he pretends to be on a conservative guest’s side while absolutely picking them apart. Ingraham, of course, has written The Obama Diaries, a fictitious collection of Barack Obama’s journal entries; Colbert pretended they were factual.

“I’ve read a fair amount of this book, and I know he’s not supposed to be a dumb guy,” Colbert said, “but this writing is terrible!” [...]

“It has the most banal turns of phrase,” he continued. “Listen to what he says about his wife! Obama writes about Michelle’s daily food intake. He says ‘Michelle’s lunch was baby back ribs. Afternoon snack, more ribs. Bedtime snack, the last three ribs!’ I thought it was supposed to be a post-racial America! Obama is making the most hideous, hackneyed racial stereotypes in here!” [Fancast]

To her credit, Ingraham acquits herself about as well as anyone can while matched up against Colbert. She even opened the interview with some playful banter about how she and Colbert went to Dartmouth, where they were no doubt instilled with the conservative values that guide their ideologies. It’s just a simple little school in New Hampshire — unlike Obama’s fancypants education from Columbia in New York City. That’s where the fags live, you know.
