Fan Fiction Theatre: ‘SVU’
09.02.10There are huge swaths of the Internet where I dare not tread, places where the people are so stupid that I’m amazed they can feed themselves, much less operate a computing device. MySpace. YouTube comments. Pro football message boards. But no breed of Internet retard is as perverse as the people who write fan fiction, the re-purposing of established TV/film/sci-fi characters for amateur writing that reveals the author’s sick fetishes (often) and poor command of grammar (always).
That’s what makes Landline‘s new web series, Fan Fiction Theatre, particularly delightful. They take the worst fan fiction scripts and have actors perform them. In the video below, the “Law & Order: SVU” crew ignore the serial rapist on the loose and get straight to what everybody REALLY wants: Detectives Benson and Stabler getting drunk and screwing. Aw, yeah! Finally, someone understands my desires as a viewer.

This was better when Party Down did it.
So what ever happened to Detective Munch and the serial rapist? I have to assume at least one of them got raped. Where was that story?
Chekhov’s gun, dammit. Bunch of fucking amateurs, not following through with anything.
Are the male actors going to agree to do gay sex scenes? Because if they refuse, they’re ignoring 95% of all fan fiction.
Pfft. People who write fan fiction are squares. L7 Weenies.
*writes YET ANOTHER superlong comment w/ mock dialogue*
thumbs up if you love this fan fiction
Can anyone explain most youtube commenters? What cultural demographic do they include?? They seemingly have strong opinions on important issues but their use of English and absurd viewpoints surprise even a sociopath like me. Should I assume they are kids, foreigners or are trailer parks stealing nearby McDoanlds wifi? Youtube comments are Mos Eisley spaceport, a hive of scum and villainy
Whoa indeed, Captain.
The long shots make “Elliot” look like a shorter, dumpier Roethisberger.
