‘Jersey Shore’ with British Accents
04.26.11It’s amazing what a British accent and Victorian clothing can accomplish. In this video, Broadway players read dialogue from “Jersey Shore,” and they somehow manage to give the Guidos’ words gravitas and even a little bit of wit. From the YouTube description:
What if the characters of Broadway’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” traveled through a time warp and woke up on the beach with Snooki, The Situation and the rest of the gang of MTV’s “Jersey Shore”? In an exclusive video series created for Playbill by “Earnest” stars Santino Fontana and David Furr, the Roundabout Theatre Company cast puts “Jersey” in the mouths of Oscar Wilde’s famed Britons.
I can’t stress how much I thoroughly enjoyed all these videos (there’s more below and on the next page). You haven’t lived until you’ve seen a dignified, mustachioed British gentleman say, “If you leave, I’m going to stuff your nose with tampons!”

How rawwwwther droll… Bitches.
My god! A couple of Victorian dudes out on the town looking to get strange? I would watch that show.
This post stays at the top of the page until you regular commenters come out of the woodwork and add something to amuse me.
It’s definitely more interesting than Dr. Who.
Oliver Wilde is rolling over in his grave, his fabulously gay grave.
Also, when I saw British accent in the post’s title I was hoping for Cockney accent, guvnah.
“Stumpy Bastard” actually sounds like something Wilde would use.
Smush & Smushsibility
There needs to be a segment where the Victorian dandies interact with Mac & Dennis as Revolutionary-Era fops.
“Drawp it like its hawt, guhl.”
Phonetic Victorian feels like Ghetto Country.
I’m not a regular commenter but I would rather see this done in the style of OLIVIA Wilde. She makes everything prettier.
Tanning of the Shrew
The only thing better than the combination of pure class and pure trash was actually these guys performance of “Earnest”.
I recommend it to anyone in NYC. Unfortunately, there is less Ron-Ron Juice and more tea and muffins.
Absolutely brilliant! They actually give the JS cast’s words gravitas — a loutish, neanderthal gravitas, but gravitas nonetheless.
If this show was legit I would totally watch it, beats the jersey trash any day.
@La Schmoove: +1
Oscar Wilde was Irish!
they… this… they… combined…… my two favorite things… jersey shore, and british people. My life is complete<3
Finally someone is keeping these sluts in check: [www.youtube.com]
@Upstate Underdog Oliver Wilde?
@ Upstate Underdog: before you complain, first learn his name.
anyway, I could really imagine that Wilde would have used some of these things………”stumpy bastard” xD
@bleh: Which is exactly why he made fun of the English so often!
“‘Jersey Shore’ with British Accents”
They’ve really changed up what they’re doing with Geordie Shore, eh?
Spare Some Change.

Much love, tanks! :)
taco_jones is a total moron. if you aren’t entertained by dr. who then you have no brain at all. period.
This is a complete ripoff of Ceciley Jenkins’ Mashterpiece Theatre Does The Jersey Shore series.
If Jersey Shore were really like this, I’d watch it devotedly.
ceciley on youtube did this first.
Cheeky and a bit daft as well, yes.
Dear America,
please try and get it into your skulls that “British’ is NOT an accent, in the same way that there is no “American’ accent. Texan, Californian, New York, etc yes. In the same way Liverpudlian, Mancunian, Welsh, Scottish, Geordie, Brummie, London, and so many variations within different regions.
Some people be trippin but in here
now i want to see a cockney one.
Now if the Jersey Shore was actually like this, I would watch it.
Actually it’s just Geordie Shore……..
Shout out to Steve Allen on this one. Be-Bop-A-Lula, I don’t mean maybe.
My husband and I think that they should create a show for television to do this for all sorts of current events, interviews with politicians and celebrities, other reality shows….kinda like SNL, but in this flavor..would love to see Laurie and Frye partake in this. This is brilliant and fun!
