Chappelle Is *Not* Going to Netflix
06.16.11Earlier today, The Daily published a rumor that Dave Chappelle was planning a show that would air on a subscription service, the comedian’s first attempt at televised programming since he went crazy and fled Comedy Central in 2005.
“Dave Chappelle’s going back to TV,” tattled our insider. “It’s not for a network. It’s for Netflix or Crackle or some other subscription service.”
Then someone with better sources double-checked the story.
“Absolutely untrue,” says Chappelle’s rep Carla Simms, who spoke to the comedian about the report this morning.
While there’s interest in getting Chappelle back on TV, his reps say the comedian has not agreed to a course of action in that direction. “He’s enjoying his life, he has a new daughter and is just doing what he’s really passionate about — stand-up,” says one source. Sources close to the comic add that if he were to make a return to TV, he would likely aim for a bigger platform than a niche subscription service. [EW]
Not that I ever believe a word out of a PR rep’s mouth, but I’m even less likely to believe that Chappelle is going to do original content for a subscription service that has yet to air an original show. Until then, I’m perfectly happy to re-watch both seasons of “Chappelle’s Show” on DVD. What’s that? Season 3? I’m sorry, but there was no third season. I SAID IT DIDN’T HAPPEN.

HOW’S IT TASTE MOTHERFUCKER?
Dre provided the SICK beats. Yo.
Netflix was the exclusive outlet for Zach G’s live at the purple onion, so I could see him doing a stand up, if he was a relative unknown and HBO didn’t do those other two.
I love him and his Total Recall weird webbed hand thingy.
stfu
Just because turns away a large amount of money doesn’t mean they went crazy.
No need to deny the existence of a 3rd season, Matt. Comedy Central airing a bunch of scraps over 3 episodes really qualify more as specials (despite being called a 3rd season). Hey, at least we got the Tupac sketch out of them.
WHIIIIITE POWER!!!!!
Oh and Dave, that gesture means “Fuck you”. Other way around is “Peace”
Feel same sentiment about Chappelle: Zombie Season. I like to think Entourage ended after Vince almost died in that weird Nick Cassevetes movie that looked about as horrible as his real movies.
I own both seasons on DVD, and sometimes I catch episodes on Comedy Central, but for some reason I don’t really laugh at it anymore. His standup, on the other hand, I still find hilarious. I would like to see another of those on DVD before more skits.
Season 3 has one gem: The Cribs skit. “THE MOST BALLA SHIT EVER!”
I feel like Dave Chappelle could do an episode about “When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong” about himself.
one of the best comedy shows ever. it’s a damn shame he had to smoke so much weed he got paranoid and freaked the fuck out. would love to see him do some more stand up.
I was going to be an intern on the Dave Chappelle show on season 3, then it was announced mid way through production that Dave had a 40 million dollar hissy fit and went to Africa or some bullshit.
I interned at a cable access station and wound up spending three years unemployed as I struggled to find another way into the television industry all because one mildly funny black guy couldn’t hold his shit together when he found out he was popular with white people.
Absolutely true story.
we would all love Chappelle to come back to TV, but he is to busy with World Of Warcraft to care about his fans anymore. http://www.dailystooge.com

I got 50 million dollars and I went cra-zy BYAHHH!!! That’s a real big check.
An example of true irony: a black dude with webbed fingers.
He didn’t go crazy you jerk face judging prick fuck head
it might be DOO DOO
“I’m sorry Charlie Murphy. I was having too much fun.”
Ha Ha!
That stuff never gets old.
