Have you ever wanted to try Apple Jack’s made with single malt scotch? Or Fruity Paintballs with the sweet artificial flavor of chicken fingers? Or Tobias Funke’s blue balls? My only issue with these TV-inspired cereal boxes is the one for “Community,” because 1) Alison Brie is pushed to the background, and 2) she’s wearing all of her clothes, and 3) she’s not in GIF form.

Tim Doyle is an Austin-based illustrator and print-maker. For an exhibition entitled “Unreal Estate” that opens today at Spoke Art in San Francisco, he recreated some of TV’s most memorable fictional settings, from Moe’s Tavern to Satriale’s Pork Store. And by recreate, I mean he made them kind of terrifying, or in artist speak:

“Unreal Estate” is a collection of locations that many of us know and have been to on a weekly basis at times, but can never actually visit. These places are in our memories transmitted and entrenched there through a cathode-ray tube. Some of us have been going to these places for decades, some of these places were taken from us, way too soon. (Spoke Art)

As someone who goes out of his way to visit pop culture locations, I really like Daly’s work, and he does a nice job of getting the little details right, like the car outside of Monk’s with the ASSMAN license plate. That being said, I’m really glad he only did three Springfield locations — looking at his vision of Uncle Moe’s Family Feedbag would make me not believe in sunshine and puppy dogs anymore. I don’t really understand fingernail art. To be honest, it kind of skeeves me out. It’s unnatural; there’s something strangely Wicca about it. Maybe it’s just me, but the idea of spending $100 on something that might break off in your boyfriend’s clavicle next week gives me the heebs. But when the fingernail art is inspired by TV shows, it makes me slightly less squeamish, especially when those television shows are as awesome as these are (I’m particularly fond of the “Doctor Who” art).

Most of the images in the following gallery came from Flavorwire’s collection (and you can see there entire post, which includes a lot of not-awesome shows like “Glee”), but where indicated, the fingernail art comes from elsewhere. Also, yes: I searched all morning for Greendale fingernail art, but the Internet let me down on this one.

Earlier today, Donald Trump unveiled the 18 contestants for the fifth season of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” which premieres on NBC on February 12. Here they are, ranked by their current cultural relevance.

Relevant: Michael Andretti (cars and stuff); Adam Carolla (unfortunately means Bill Simmons will write a 17,000 word essay comparing this season to the first :17 seconds of Hoosiers); Lou Ferrigno (THE HULK); George Takei (Sulu/gay rights activist); Paul Teutul, Sr. (like Clay Morrow but real); and Patricia Velásquez (second Marta on “Arrested Development”).

Once Relevant: Tia Carrere (all downhill since Wayne’s World 2); Arsenio Hall (will the Trump WHOOP?); Lisa Lampanelli (“…something something black guys!”); Dayana Mendoza (psh, former Miss Universe); and Cheryl Tiegs (her SI Swimsuit Issue covers helped a lot of guys get through high school in the 1970s).

But will there be bear throwing?

Comedian Patrice O’Neal died last night, one month after suffering a massive stroke. The longtime Comedy Central presence had previously battled diabetes, which served as the butt of several jokes in his final TV appearance, the roast of Charlie Sheen. He was 41.

O’Neal’s TV credits included a stint on “The Office,” regular appearances on “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn,” and a memorable one-off as the pyromaniac T-Bone in “Arrested Development” (There’s always money in the banana stand). He was also the second-best part about In the Cut (banner image & video below), which reminds me: R.I.P. Meg Ryan’s original face.

Last month, “Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz announced that there would be a 9- or 10-episode season of the show that would serve as a primer for the long-awaited, forever-germinating “Arrested Development” movie. Late on Friday afternoon, Netflix announced that it would stream the new season in early 2013. (Good call on making the announcement Friday afternoon, by the way. That way it has all weekend to fall out of Monday’s headlines.)

Netflix said on Friday that it had struck a deal for new episodes with the makers of the show, 20th Century Fox Television and Imagine Television. The episodes are to start appearing on the service in 2013. “Bringing a series back from cancellation almost never happens, but then, ‘Arrested’ always was about as unconventional as they get, so it seems totally appropriate that this show that broke the mold is smashing it to pieces once again,” the founders of Imagine, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, said in a statement. Streaming episodes of the critically acclaimed show have remained popular among Netflix subscribers, giving the company the confidence to make more. [NYT]

So it’s really happening. This is fantastic news, if only because it shows that years of fanboy whining has finally paid off. That means we could get a fourth season of “Community” in 2018.

“Arrested Development” was canceled in 2006 after only three seasons on the air, something that the series’ devoted fans have loudly bemoaned approximately every day since then. But after five years of complaining and wondering if the long-discussed “AD” movie would ever happen, the clouds have parted to give us this ray of sunshine: the entire cast will reunite next summer to film a 10-episode season AND a movie. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz announced the news at this weekend’s New Yorker festival, and stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett confirmed the plans on Twitter.

Short version for you ADD types: 20th Century Fox TV will produce the episodes, with Netflix and Showtime emerging as the early frontrunners to air the miniseries, which would serve as a sort of catch-up/primer for the movie. The long version:

Hurwitz’ [sic] hope is that the limited series would serve as a walk-up to his long-gestating movie. “I have been working on the screenplay for a long time and found that as time went by there was so much more to the story,” he said at the festival, which was also attended by Development stars Bateman, De Rossi, and Cera, as well as David Cross, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Tony Hale, and Alia Shawkat. Ron Howard, one of the comedy’s producers, even participated via speakerphone. “In fact, where everyone’s been for five years became a big part of the story. So, in working on the screenplay I found that even if I just gave five minutes per character to that backstory, we were halfway through the movie before the characters got together. And that kinda gave birth to this thing we’ve not been pursuing for a while and we’re kinda going public with a little bit. We’re trying to do kind of limited run series into the movie.”

Hurwitz then unveiled his very unconventional plan. “We’re basically hoping to do nine or 10 episodes with almost one character per episode, where like the first episode will just be Buster. We’re kinda picturing it like, um, well the latest joke we have is that, you know, it’s Cambridge, Massachusetts and there’s all these scientists in lab coats and they’re waiting for somebody and Buster comes through the door wearing a lab quote and says `let’s begin,’ and they say, `you don’t get to wear the lab coat, we’re experimenting on you. [garbled] And then we go through his life and we meet the people in his life and maybe he goes to see his therapist who he’s getting a good rate on because it’s Tobias and he’s lost his license. We can do cross overs and things like that. But it’s an unusual style of show I think and we get him to a certain point of peril in his life and then maybe we jump over to like Maeby and she’s living with Cornel West … We’ll do this kind of thing that builds the peril in their lives until they all come together, really, in the first scene of the movie. It requires, and Ron [Howard] has been working on this too, it just requires studios to work together, they don’t normal work together in film and TV. It’s a really ambitious project but it’s also a very simple project in a way because it kind of gives the fans a level of detail for `granularity,’ which is a big word on the East Coast.

“I really have to say, we’ve talked about this, we’re all game, we hated be coy, we’ve been trying to put together this more ambitious idea and I think we’re very close, the script is halfway done and we have to get the film companies on board,” Hurwitz continued. “They’ve always been great to us but you know times are tough and money is tight but I’m very hopeful , there is business left to be done but creatively we have a very specific plan of how it would come out and what we would do and when we would shoot it. Our hope is that, perhaps the series is in the fall.” [EW]

Of course, there’s still time for this to blow up in our faces and not happen, but for right now, let’s all break out the desk-booze and get crunk at work. I’ve been looking for an excuse to do that anyway.

Ordinarily I wouldn’t have anything to say about the New Yorker, because I’m not particularly interested in reading 12,000-word articles about opera in China. But this year’s New Yorker Festival has something noteworthy: a reunion of the cast of “Arrested Development.”

On Sunday, October 2nd, Nancy Franklin will moderate an exclusive “Bluth family reunion” panel, featuring the creator of “Arrested Development,” Mitchell Hurwitz, and the cast: Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, David Cross, Portia de Rossi, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Jeffrey Tambor, and Jessica Walter. Tickets sold out for the panel almost immediately, as there are countless fans of the show who plan to go solely for the Q&A portion of the panel, which is going to sound exactly like this: “What’s the status of the Arrested Development movie?” “Is the script done for Arrested Development movie?” “When could you start filming the Arrested Development movie?” And “Excuse me, do these effectively hide my thunder?”

I think it goes without saying that 1,000 years from now, when a history teacher asks his class of 8th graders what the Internet was, “A shrine to something called ‘Arrested Development’” will be accepted as a correct answer. I mean, we see a new meme centered around the show popping up pretty much every week at this point, often centered around its most legendary quotes dropped over a still frame from another show. (Example – the delightful Arrested Westeros.) If we could figure out a way to harness “Arrested Development” references as an alternative energy source, we could end our dependence on foreign oil by happy hour tonight.

So it should come as little surprise that some hero recreated some of the show’s most famous set pieces and characters out of LEGOs and uploaded it all to flickr. It just makes perfect sense. This is why the Internet was invented, people. Embrace it like a long lost child.
