10. Craig Ferguson: Why Everything Sucks. Ferguson used his “Late Late Show” cold open to brilliantly dismantle the 21st Century’s “deification of imbecility.” More of a “Preach on!” clip than something that causes shameful joy, but this overlooked clip represents all my hatred for America’s celebration useless fame whores.

Cats and dogs — and funny pictures/videos of animals in general — ended up dominating Warming Glow in a way that I never could have predicted when I started the blog. For this list, I tried my best to select videos relevant to television, so that should explain why Keyboard Cat isn’t in half of these. In some instances, videos missed the cut because they’ve since been pulled from YouTube. Finally, I made the difficult decision of limiting the honorees to cats and dogs. Sorry, Squirrel with a Yogurt Cup on Its Head and crazy ferret ladies.

And because I didn’t want to embed every single video along the way, I’ve inserted a few of my favorite cat and dog pictures through the year into the list. They’re not relevant to the videos; they’re merely there for your enjoyment. Or, more accurately, my enjoyment.

I abhor making lists, especially ones that arbitrarily rank one thing as better than another. So the criteria I used for this list were: which women on TV did Warming Glow obsess the most over in 2009? Naturally I ended up favoring actresses who were not only beautiful, but also talented, intelligent, and in shows that are well made. Or super-slutty. Whatever.

Hi everyone. For the two or three of you at work today, I’ve got a series of special treats lined up. Because I’m lazy and unoriginal, I made a bunch of lists like everyone has been doing for the last three weeks. Except it kinda backfired on me, because that required me to go through all the Warming Glow posts from 2009. And even though I didn’t start writing this here blog until February, there were still over 1,700 posts to dig through to find the best stuff. Remember Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire? Yeah, neither did I. That didn’t make any of the lists.

So stick around. It’s gonna be a long day of hot women, schadenfreude, and cats and dogs in clothes. Or in other words, “everything the Internet was made for.”
