Jim Belushi and Brooke Shields are both safe after a very minor plane crash at the Hearst Mansion in California last Friday, according to Access Hollywood.

The incident occurred just after 5 PM when a plane carrying the two actors, who were attending a private event at the popular historic monument, landed safely at the estate’s private landing strip.

San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Department PIO Rob Bryn told Access the pilot did not set the plane’s parking brake and the Cessna 421B plane rolled into a parked rental car while Brooke and Jim were still on the plane.

“No one was ever in any danger,” Officer Bryn told Access.

That’s too bad. I mean, I’ve got nothing against Brooke Shields. She’s perfectly nice and good at whatever is she does these days, but I think she would’ve been acceptable collateral to lose Belushi — albeit seven years too late to prevent “According to Jim.”

Man, I miss summer.

In the continuing saga of “Jack Bauer head-butted a fashion designer to protect Brooke Shields,” Kiefer Sutherland will surrender to police and face third-degree assault charges, according to the New York Daily News.

The actor will be issued a desk appearance ticket for the misdemeanor – meaning he won’t be jailed and will be free to travel before he’s arraigned. [...]

A friend told The News that Sutherland – who seemed to be channeling his “24″ alter ego Jack Bauerwhen he slammed his head into [Jack] McCollough’s at a SoHo nightspot – felt bad about the bizarre display.

“Kiefer is sorry it happened. Absolutely. It’s terribly regrettable,” the friend said.

Still, the friend insisted Sutherland lashed out inside SubMercer because McCollough, a designer for Proenza Schouler, bumped into actress Brooke Shieldsand didn’t apologize. “Kiefer was provoked,” the friend said.

Oh, he was provoked all right.  By booze.  Which only makes me love him more.
