These Links Seem Kinda Unsafe

I like the part with the boobs. In anticipation of the upcoming season of “Californication,” someone leaked a sex scene between David Duchovny and a hot, topless chick.  See this FX?  THIS is how you market a show!  (*pours one out for “Terriers,” listens to “Gunfight Epiphany“*) [Egotastic]

Also, see above.  About the boobs. Seven scenes from “The Walking Dead” that should have been in the show. [io9]

Hmm, he seems like a nice guy. Happy Christmas, from Al Swearingen of “Deadwood.” [suicideblonde]

Her name is Vanderpump?  Seriously? Lisa Vanderpump of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was verbally attacked outside an L.A. restaurant.  In a related story, “Vanderpump” sounds like some sort of sex aide.  Maybe a competitor of Elektro Bonerz produced by noted Amsterdam sex club Vandersexxx. Zack Morris eating a penis cookie? Zack Morris eating eating a penis cookie. [Buzzfeed]

More links after the jump.  Probably a GIF or two also, if I know me like I think I do.

Finance Tip: Buy Stock in Tits

05.10.10 Written by Matt

Today’s Los Angeles Times features an in-depth examination of the continued and growing success of soft-core porn on cable television, even though the good stuff is available for free online. Apparently, “bare titties” is a growth industry in any market.

Premium-cable TV networks such as HBO, Showtime and Cinemax — the channel nicknamed “Skin-emax” for its preponderance of sexy programming — continue to fill their late-night schedules with low-budget, nudity-filled films, and the adoption of video-on-demand and pay-per-view services has given soft-core content wider play…

At the same time, premium channels have been upping the skin factor on their higher-profile, higher-brow series. Shows such as HBO’s “True Blood,” which debuts its third season next month, and Showtime’s “The Tudors” and “Diary of a Call Girl” all showcase fairly graphic sex scenes that are often as explicit as what you would see in an R-rated movie in theaters.

Ironically, the proliferation of hard-core porn in recent years seems to have made the softer stuff more appealing — or at least more palatable — to a wider audience, particularly among women, according to industry observers. While women who are now in their 20s and 30s have grown up in an era when adult entertainment has become increasingly mainstream and sex tapes helped launch the careers of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton, many of them are still uncomfortable watching all-out porn, even if it’s in the company of a partner.

Translation: stop being such prudes, ladies. Here I am, being a gentleman and offering to watch some porn with you, and you’ll only go so far as bare breasts and simulated sex, with as much as seven or eight minutes of plot between sex scenes. Like, what is this, the 1930s?

EVA AMURRI CO-HOSTED ‘ATTACK OF THE SHOW’

10.22.09 Written by Matt

evaamurri-californication

Eva Amurri, the actress who in the last week has gone from “Susan Sarandon’s daughter” to “Dear Jesus I wanna stick my face in ‘em” thanks to a nude scene as a stripper in “Californication,” co-hosted G4′s “Attack of the Show” last night. She didn’t magically make “AOTS” entertaining, but there are definitely long stretches in the video below where I can just tune out the rest of the world and gaze longingly at the screen. It’s a nice way to sit in a hazy stupor until I find my ether-sniffin’ rag.

WHAT’S ON TONIGHT: WOMEN BE CALIFORNICATIN’

Californication (Showtime) — Season 3 premiere. Mmmmmm, Eva Amurri as a stripper. Approve.

Dexter (Showtime) — Season 4 premiere. Not only is Dexter now a dad, but this season also features John Lithgow as an serial killer foil to Dexter’s good serial killer.

Desperate Housewives (ABC) — Season premiere. Drea de Matteo gets added to the cast as — brace yourselves — a brassy Italian chick. Look at it this way: it’s not as bad as “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Brothers & Sisters (ABC) — Season premiere. Somehow this has been on for three years without me ever watching a single scene, even accidentally. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Rachel Griffiths and Rob Lowe often make things watchable.

The Simpsons (Fox) — Season 21 premiere. I don’t care if it’s not as brilliant as Seasons 4 through 9 or whatever you think the Golden Age of Funny was. This show gets a lifetime pass from me.

Mad Men (AMC) — I like “Mad Men” airing on Sundays during football season. I’ve already been drinking all day, I might as well have some whiskey neat while I watch this show.

The Cleveland Show (Fox) — Series premiere. Hate it.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO) — The brilliance of Jason Alexander on “Seinfeld” was that he made Costanza’s caricature of Larry David ultimately likable. Larry David as Larry David? Not so much.  But you’re welcome to hate me for that opinion.

SARANDON’S DAUGHTER PLAYS A STRIPPER. YAY!

09.21.09 Written by Matt

eva-amurri1

Eva Amurri got two things from her mother Susan Sarandon: good looks and big cans. So I guess maybe that’s three things. Anyway, she’ll put all of them to use in the new season of “Californication,” in which she plays one of Hank Moody’s students who moonlights as a stripper. I should also put aside my pigheaded leanings for a moment and note that besides being attractive, Amurri’s a pretty good actress as well (I like her in Saved, anyway). At the very least, she’s dedicated to her craft:

“I had to train quite a bit,” Amurri says. “I had stripper bruises. I was quite banged up.” …

“Stripping is not easy, I will tell you,” she continues. “I have huge respect for people who do pole dancing. Stripping is incredibly empowering.”

I have huge respect for people who do pole dancing, too. That’s why I never stare at a naked woman inside a strip club. Just furtive sidelong glances. I don’t want them to think I’m some kind of perv. Do I want a lapdance? I think that’s a little too forward, miss. Why don’t we just go somewhere and talk for a while? There’s a private room in the back? That sounds lovely. Bartender, another iced tea, please.
