Important Puppy Bowl Results

02.06.12 Written by Danger Guerrero

I’ll be honest, after posting 800 words ranting about the scandalous merits of someone flipping the bird while wearing a gladiator costume, I could use a palate cleanser. And what better way to do that than to post a video of Puppy Bowl MVP Fumble. (NOTE: Remember Friday when I said I wasn’t going to watch because there were no corgis? LIES.)

Personally, I think Aberdeen was robbed, but I have no intention of splitting adorable hairs on this issue. More highlights here.

Well Played, Volkswagen

01.19.12 Written by Danger Guerrero

This Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial is all over the place today. But, as the Internet’s premiere destination for dog-related television content, I feel it’s very important to post it here anyway. After all, we have an image to maintain.

The spot continues the Star Wars theme from last year, and features a bunch of adorable pooches barking along to the film’s score. It’s pretty much the perfect commercial. The only way it could be improved — and I’m really splitting hairs here — is if they were barking a smooth R&B jam from the 90s instead, and my precious Blue Shirt Guy shimmied his way across the screen at the end. I love that guy. If Volkswagen had included him in this ad, I probably would have just mailed them a check. Not to pay for anything, just as a donation. After all, it’s important to support the arts.

Corgi Friday: Hat Edition

01.13.12 Written by Danger Guerrero

One of the few frustrating things about Corgi Friday is that it’s, well, limited to corgis. Don’t get me wrong, I love the little furballs. They’re cute and adorable, and they translate exceptionally well into GIF form. The problem, however, is that sometimes I come across stories like this one about a dog crossing guard (WHAT YES I DID SAY THAT), and I really don’t have a proper outlet for it because the dog wasn’t a corgi. Then I find myself sitting here getting livid at the dog for being the wrong breed (which is perfectly healthy), because I would have taken hundreds of screenshots of it and turned it into a giant slideshow ($$$$$$) and it would have just been the best.

[sighs]

On the other hand, I have like 20 pictures of corgis wearing hats, so life’s not all bad, you guys. In fact, life is pretty good, no matter what kind of stupid breed that crossing guard dog is. I bet he looks terrible in a hat anyway. Jerk. What? No, I’m not bitter. Whatever. YOUR FACE IS BITTER.

Anyway, without further ado, here is today’s ALL DOGS IN HATS edition of Corgi Friday. No crossing guard dogs allowed.

Happy Holidays From Warming Glow

12.23.11 Written by Danger Guerrero

I had every intention of slapping together another big Corgi Friday post, or maybe a video of some dogs running around doing Christmas-y things, but then two important things happened this week: First of all, I got lazy. Seriously, SO lazy. You don’t even know. The second thing was that the Puppy Christmas video below absolutely blew up, and I realized it would have been, like, super hard to top it, so I chose to not even try. It’s like that old saying, “When the going gets tough, maybe just go to Dunkin Donuts or something.” I think that was Descartes. Wise dude.

Anyway, on behalf of the rest of the Warming Glow staff, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and/or other religious/secular seasonal holiday. We’re closing down the shop for the long weekend, but we’ll be back at it Tuesday morning all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Or at least bleary-eyed and regular-tailed. As far as what to watch on TV between now and then, I recommend alternating between A Muppet Christmas Carol and Die Hard. Beyond that, you’re on your own. Feel free to make your own recommendations in the comments.

So, until Tuesday, be safe, be healthy, and if you see Santa, tell him he still owes me those nunchucks from 1991. Don’t think I’ve forgotten, fat man.

Weekend Preview: Jingle All the Way

11.25.11 Written by Matt

Jingle All the Way (Hallmark) — From Daemon’s TV: “A spirited Husky puppy looking for a home at a Christmas tree farm instantly bonds with a young boy visiting with his parents. As the boy rides away, unable to keep him, the pupescapes and embarks on a snowy journey to find his friend again.” You had me at “husky puppy.”

The Walking Dead (AMC, Sunday) — Fall finale. It’s the last new episode until February, so enjoy your zombie ownage while you can.

Boss (Starz, Friday) — On a night when the networks are airing Hollywood blockbusters and everything else is in reruns, Starz is airing a new episode of its struggling drama.

The Simpsons (Fox, Sunday) — John Slattery (Roger Sterling on “Mad Men”) provides lends his voice to an executive who teaches Homer how to be a corporate account suit. I know most die-hard “Simpsons” fans no longer watch it, but the last two seasons have been a bit of a renaissance for the show.

Shark Attack Experiment: LIVE (Nat Geo WILD, Friday) — This may be your first and only chance to watch humans get mauled by sharks on live TV. And while I’m on Team Shark all the way, I’d hate to see the Bikini Shark Bait girls lose one of their lovely legs.

Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse (TBS, Friday) — Series premiere. A fresh and necessary new take on Perry’s film Why Did I get Married? I guess this is what happens when networks don’t make sitcoms about black people.

Kourtney and Kim Take New York (E!, Sunday) — Season premiere. Kim got a ton of bad press for her sham marriage to Kris Humphries, so naturally the purpose of this season will be to paint Humphries as a lousy husband. I’m sure it will be a completely fair and authentic portrayal.
