Werewolves are notoriously fastidious about waxing their chests.

Below is a tease for the new season of “True Blood,” set to premiere June 26th. Judging by the snapshots the video delivers, Season 4 promises more of what has made the show such a success: sweaty naked bodies and vampire violence. It may be just a 30-second clip, but it’s a non-stop barrage of fangs and heaving bosoms and strippers and Sookie (Anna Paquin) delivering the smart-aleck lines that pass for quips on the show.

I can’t decide whether or not I’m looking forward to new episodes. On one hand, it’s a crappy soap that I’d never watch if it weren’t airing during the summer. On the other hand, SOOOO MUCH NUDITY. TV critics will complain about premium cable series like “Boardwalk Empire” and “Game of Thrones” showing too much nudity, but you never get that complaint with “True Blood.” That’s the whole point of the show. “True Blood” could dedicate 40 minutes an episode to softcore porn and sex dungeon scenes, and I’d still be like, “Eh, coulda used a little more nudity.”

I always try to follow every story about pubic hair wigs in the television industry, which is why I was pleased to learn that Evan Rachel Wood wore a merkin for HBO’s rich-white-people drama Mildred Pierce (trailer here).

The “True Blood” star is slated to go full frontal in the HBO miniseries “Mildred Pierce” — and at a recent NY press event explained, “Let’s just say, I had to wear a wig because it was in the 30s, and everything had to look like it was in the 30s.”

According to Wood, her co-star Kate Winslet encouraged her to do it — “I looked at Kate and she was like, ‘You’ve got to do it. Trust me, it’s so brave. Put a merkin on and you’ll be fine.” [TMZ]

I don’t ordinarily go for stories about wealthy white people in high society, but I just might tune in to see how Wood looks in this period piece.

…Was that too subtle? I can do a little soft-shoe if it helps get the punchline across.

I’m a couple days late to this, but here’s the trailer for HBO’s forthcoming miniseries “Mildred Pierce,” a remake of the 1945 movie starring Joan Crawford. HBO’s version will star Kate Winslet in the title role, as well as Evan Rachel Wood and Guy Pierce in the roles of other white people. I’m sure the series will be well done, but if there’s anything I like less than stories about white people in high society, it’s period pieces about white people in high society. And judging by the trailer alone, “Mildred Pierce” is loaded with all the most exciting trappings of a period drama: Opera! Pearls! Pencil mustaches! Women in veils! Cigarette holders! Boredom with opulence! Why, the unspoken tension between white people in this video is almost enough to make The English Patient look like Remains of the Day.

In news that may possibly SHATTER THE EARTH, two actors who worked closely together on the set of a television show have begun dating. In this case, the rumored couple is “True Blood” vampires Alexander Skarsgard (Meekus!) and Evan Rachel Wood. From Lainey Gossip (via Socialite Life):

I don’t think this should come as a surprise, as Evan Rachel Wood is a sexy-ass redhead who’s been rumored to hump just about everyone she acts with. If you look at all the rumors about her over the years, she comes off as kind of a gigantic slut. But I don’t mean that in a bad way. Why do people always use “slut” as a pejorative? “Ooh, I hate sexually liberated women who put out!” Damn our Puritanical heritage, always making virtue a virtue.

“So, I guess we’re no longer susceptible to daylight?”

Evan Rachel Wood finally makes her debut as the vampire queen Sophie-Anne on “True Blood” next Sunday, and there are two new photos of her looking super-hot and stylish as her character (high resolution here and here via bohemea).

That’s it.  That’s the entire post.  I’m not going to apologize for my odd fascination with Evan Rachel Wood.  She’s a good actress and she’s a hot pale redhead.  And she has a tattoo of an Edgar Allen Poe couplet.  And she has a history of questionably appropriate relationships with men decades older than she is, starting when she was 17.  Something about all that suggests that she’s into some kind of super-freaky kinky stuff. Stuff that I’ve never even heard about or imagined before.   What I’m trying to say is, I’d let her electrocute my nipples.
