Woman Pays $20K For Chris Rock to Curse Out Her Ex-Boyfriend

10.22.10 Written by Matt

Here’s a clip from Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars” — the Autism Education fundraiser hosted by Jon Stewart — in which Chris Rock offers to curse out the ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend of the highest bidder. And a woman donates TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS to charity for Rock to swear at a guy who broke up with her over Facebook. So Rock follows through with lots of NSFW language and hilarious results.

Now, I love listening to Chris Rock swear at people, but what I can’t get over is that someone would break up with a woman who has $20,000 to give away. Sure, she’s a little thick in the britches, but ladies, if 20 large is an afterthought to you, you can look like Jabba the Hutt in a wig and I’ll give you all the lovin’ your big ass can handle. Call me!

Kenny Powers Signed by K-Swiss

08.02.10 Written by Matt

This Funny or Die/K-Swiss viral marketing video is making the rounds today. I wasn’t going to post it because it didn’t make me laugh, but then everybody else was all, “Kenny Powers signs with K-Swiss! So awesome LOL!!!!” Don’t get me wrong, I love “Eastbound and Down,” but it’s essentially just four minutes of Kenny Powers saying different variants of “f*ck.” Here’s the conversation FilmDrunk and I had about it:

Vince: Assuming you’ve seen this by now…
Matt: Yeah. Am I the only one who wants a little more thought in a sketch than Kenny Powers saying “motherf*cker”?
Vince: Yes.

So there you go. I guess I’m just a picky little bitch.

At the very least, I have to tip my hat to K-Swiss for having the balls to participate in such edgy, profane marketing. I can’t put dildo in a headline without losing an advertiser, yet K-Swiss offers up its name for a four-and-a-half minute skit full of F-bombs, the finger, and sex. That makes me want to buy a pair of K-Swisses, and I don’t even wear shoes.

New ‘Between 2 Ferns’: Steve Carell

07.29.10 Written by Matt

This isn’t specifically related to television, but Zach Galifianakis and Steve Carell are both currently on TV shows, so that’s enough of an excuse to post this new episode of “Between Two Ferns,” the mock-talk show in which the pseudonymous Chad Farthouse mocks his guests. This particular episode didn’t rock my world, but I did laugh at loud at the final gag, because — SPOILER ALERT — fat people breaking furniture will never not be funny. Oh, fatties. I’m almost jealous of them, because it’s so much easier to be funny when you’re overweight. But then I think about not having diabetes and how easy it is for me to walk up stairs, and it makes me pretty happy with where I’m at.

‘Mad Men’ Countdown: 3 Days

07.22.10 Written by Matt

In my ongoing effort to get through the work week despite the summer doldrums, all this week I’m counting down to Sunday’s “Mad Men” Season 4 premiere. Remember: anyone who calls the show “boring” is either stupid or just trying to get attention.

Today’s banner image is a publicity shot for Season 4 that shows the brain trust behind the fledgling new ad agency Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce. I like that they all have a signature drink: whiskey neat for Don, martini for Roger, gin and tonic for Pete Campbell, Manhattan for Bert Cooper, and something gay for the British guy. Dessert wine, probably.

In other “Mad Men”-related news, Funny or Die has a follow-up to their “MA Men” spoof, with Massholes playing the roles of ad executives. The sequel isn’t as good as the first one, but I’m not complaining. It’s not like I’ve got anything better to do today. Or any day.

Hollywood Is Super Original

07.19.10 Written by Matt

This is a Funny or Die video called “Undercover Karaoke with Jewel” in which the folksy yodeler wears a disguise to a bar’s karaoke night and absolutely KILLS. Because, uh, she’s a professional singer singing her own hits. It’s been viewed 2.6 million times since it launched last Wednesday, so naturally the next step is to make “Undercover Karaoke” a reality show. Deadline says:

I hear the Funny or Die team, including the video’s creator Eric Appel, are out there with a concept for a reality show based on the hit video, which would feature music stars from the past 4 decades going undercover to places where comedic situations will ensue, showcasing their talent. There has been a lot of interest in the idea and I hear it is being pitched to a number of networks this week… CBS has had success in the past year with reality projects about well-known people going undercover: its hit freshman series Undercover Boss and series of specials I Get That A Lot.

I think this show could be really funny, but only if it’s the complete opposite of what happens in Jewel’s video. Like, they should get Axl Rose, give him no makeup or disguise of any sort, then have him perform a song off of Appetite for Destruction. People would be like, “Whoa, that fat guy sounds terrible.”
