Betty White will continue her late-life career resurgence with an NBC special that will honor her 90th birthday early next year. From TV Guide:

The dinner-style event is expected to be filmed in Los Angeles before year’s end and will air as a special sometime close to Betty’s milestone on January 17, 2012.

Good call on filming it sooner rather than later. In case, you know… I mean, she’s gonna be NINETY. Every day’s a gift is all I’m sayin’.

Among the famous faces likely to offer on-camera tributes: stars from Betty’s series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Hot in Cleveland, as well as funny ladies from the NBC comedy lineup.

WHAT? No one from “Golden Girls” is going to be there?!? What’s the problem with those bitches? Oh. Oh. OHHH. My bad, y’all.

Rue McClanahan died last week, the third actress from “Golden Girls” to pass away in as many years, which leaves 88-year-old Betty White as the sole surviving actress from a show about old women that aired more than twenty years ago. And if you’re anything like me, thinking about old women dying gives you a raging hard-on, in which case this “Golden Girls” porn parody is just what the doctor ordered. Dr. Cocktopus, that is.

On a more serious note: Ew. I’m more likely to get an erection watching Oprah than I am from old people having sex, even if it’s young people pretending to be old people. However, if there’s a silver-haired lining to this cloud of pubic hair, it seems that the sex scenes in this all take place via flashback. And thank God for that. I very nearly had to turn on Oprah.

Beloved “Golden Girls” actress Rue McClanahan died last night in her sleep, the victim of a massive stroke. She was 76.

Her first job was off Broadway, in 1957, and she finally hit Broadway in 1969. TV work came from soap operas, until she made it on CBS’s Maude, starring Beatrice Arthur, starting in 1972. She played Maude’s best friend Vivian.

But it was Golden Girls that put her on the map and led to fame, fortune – and several husbands. In all, she had six, including actor Morrow Wilson, whom she wed in 1997 and who survives her, as does a son, Mark Bish, from her first marriage. [People]

Just as I warned before Gary Coleman died, summer is a dangerous season for celebrities, and McClanahan is the third famous entertainer to die in the six days since the Memorial Day weekend began. Also, I have to note that Estelle Getty died in the summer of 2008, followed by Bea Arthur last summer. That makes Betty White the sole surviving Golden Girl. I don’t mean to take away from the sad event of a person’s death, but I’m just sayin’, IF your office has a death pool… you know what to do.

Rest in peace, Blanche Devereaux. You made being a slutty old woman cool back when Kim Cattrall was still in her twenties.

The Golden Girls tattoo at right (click for larger)  appeared on Buzzfeed earlier today, and I thought, “Wow, really?”  And so I asked the Internet “Really?”  And the Internet was all, “Damn right, hooker. BAM!”

The scary thing is that the Golden-Girls-as-Mount-Rushmore tattoo and the Golden-Girls-as-rape-defense tattoo both only scratch the surface of what’s out there.  This gallery here has more TV show tattoos than you care to think exist.  It’s like, yeah, I get it.  I like TV too, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna get an “According to Jim” tat.
