TV’s Top Ten Online Graveyards, Starring NBC’s Official Website for ‘Joey’

10.26.11 Written by Josh

I was recently having a discussion with someone who does marketing for Pepsi’s website, and I asked them, “Who goes to Pepsi.com?” They didn’t really have an answer, because while I love Pepsi, I have never been to Pepsi.com. Likewise, “Community” and “Parks and Recreation” are two of my favorite TV shows, but I’ve never been to their official websites (the closest I come is watching old episodes on Hulu) because IMDb and Wikipedia can answer for me what Ben called Perd Hapley at the end of “Media Blitz” (correct answer: Turd Crapley). But nearly every show in the Internet era has (or had) one, and thanks to the magic of the Way Back Machine, we can see what, say, the website for “Freaks and Geeks” looked like (way) back in the day.

Here are ten of my favorites.

‘Seinfeld’ Re-Cut as Oscar Bait

04.30.10 Written by Matt

This video is making the rounds on all the other TV and pop culture websites, so I’d better get with the program and post it as well. This is a bunch of “Seinfeld” clips re-cut to make a trailer for George, a tear-jerker about a middle-aged man who loses his fiancée but finds spiritual renewal when he adopts a son.

It’s pretty well executed, but I’m not doing flips over it because I don’t get much joy from comedy repurposed for something serious (even if it’s tongue-in-cheek like this). I’d much rather see the opposite, something like Pride and Prejudice and Fart Noises.

Anyhoo, screen caps can get kind of boring, so here’s Costanza and some golden retriever puppies:

THE ‘SEINFELD’ REUNION EPISODE

11.24.09 Written by Matt

The season finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” that aired on Sunday night included Larry David watching the culmination of the “Seinfeld” cast’s reunion on “Curb” — an actual (albeit abbreviated) episode of “Seinfeld.” I’m not sure that sentence makes any sense, but the point is that it’s pretty cool to see the “Seinfeld” gang reprise their roles over a decade after the show ended.

You can either enjoy it at face value, or you can put on your thick-framed glasses and deconstruct the layers of meta surrounding the fact taht Larry David’s life provided content for “Seinfeld.” Aren’t you cool with the way you coldly analyze humor. You must be a huge hit at parties.

EVERY KRAMER ENTRANCE FROM SEINFELD

10.15.09 Written by RoboPanda

wgseinfeldcast

Below is a montage of every single Kramer entrance from Seinfeld, via popwatch.

I tried to watch the whole thing, but I had a seizure and started hallucinating.  Michael Richards appeared to me and said, “I will grant you one wish.”  Then after I made my wish he said, “I’m not a genie, you shillelagh-hugger.  You get nothing.”  Then he disappeared in a puff of cigar smoke.  Damn.  Now who’s going to shoot the Black Eyed Peas into the sun for me?
