Last night’s Valentine’s Day episode of “Community” featured several gay overtones: Britta’s confusion about her pseudo-lesbian friend Paige, the growing bro-love between Troy and Abed, and an appearance by Andy Dick. But the highlight — both sexually and comedically — was the almost-kiss between Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Annie (our beloved Alison Brie). Dammit, why does Britta always have to be such a buzzkill?

I encourage you all to file this animated GIF of the scene alongside the earlier still photo of Jacobs and Brie almost kissing in the Internet Warehouse of Sexy Alison Brie GIFs. Man, I sure wish the Warehouse of Sexy Alison Brie GIFs was a real place where I could go on vacation. Or move to and live permanently.

BREAKING NEWS: Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs Almost Kissing

02.01.11 Written by Matt

MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE OUUUUUUUUUUUUT

I’ve never felt the need to break out the animated siren GIF circa the late-’90s Drudge Report, but I think this warrants it: Warming Glow crush Alison Brie getting friendly with her “Community” co-star Gillian Jacobs (who’s no slouch herself).

This was tweeted by “Community” writer Emily Cutler, who has jumped to the head of the line of American heroes, ahead of Thomas Jefferson, Evel Knievel, Jackie Robinson, Neil Armstrong, the Marine Corps, and firefighters. What have you done for me lately, firefighters?

Qapla’! Trolley Signs in Klingon

07.23.10 Written by Matt

In honor of Comic-Con, the trolley stop for the San Diego Convention Center is written in Klingon, the official language of sweaty virgins with acne. (photo via BWE)

Comic-Con, of course, began yesterday, and I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that it will be producing a bunch of news over the weekend, most of which I’ll ignore because working weekends is for bartenders, cops, and suckers. But you can follow the adventures of Vince over at FilmDrunk as he navigates the sweaty hordes. Enjoy it, geeks: this is your time to shine. And by “shine” I mean “get used as guinea pigs by the entertainment industry.”

Oh hey look, Slave Leias kissing:

Scarlett Johansson Is a Good Rebound

06.07.10 Written by Matt

The NBA Finals, the Stanley Cup Finals, “Breaking Bad,” and “Treme” were all on TV at the same time last night, but the MTV Movie Awards overshadowed the quality programming with its usual combination of glitz, buzzy moments, and the awful pop cultural tastes of teenagers. Here’s some of the stuff that I caught between flipping between the NBA Finals and “Breaking Bad” (which, as usual, was UNSANE)…

  • Aziz Ansari was okay as the host. I dunno, he did a little bit of stand-up at the beginning and then I didn’t see him again.
  • Sandra Bullock got some B.S. “Generation Award” so she could make her triumphant public appearance and get past the Jesse James stuff. And she capped it off by kissing Scarlett Johansson. That’s how I get over break-ups, too. “Hey, ScarJo? Me again. Mind coming over and mending this broken heart?” (video below)
  • Katy Perry sang an absolutely horrible song about California. Like, Ke$ha-awful. But she wore a blue wig and had her giant cans on display, so I’m inclined to let it slide. (more pics at WWTDD)
  • The big opening number was Tom Cruise, reprising a supporting character from 2008, dancing with Jennifer Lopez. Truly a cool thing to see if it was 12 years ago instead of 2010.

Oh yeah, and Twilight won for pretty much everything, except best villain. I know what you’re thinking: that went to Christoph Waltz in Inglorious Basterds, right? Nope. Surely Ken Jeong in The Hangover, then? Oh no, it was Tom Felton for Harry Potter and the Adjective Noun. His turn as Draco Malfoy truly was a timeless performance. It was haunting, really. I’ve never been so terrified of a 20-year-old British kid with bleached blond hair. Great call on that one, teenagers.

’90210′ WILL BE CANCELED SOON

03.04.10 Written by Matt

90210-lesbian-kissTerrence the Gay T-Rex LOVES that hat on you, girl!

Ever since I heard the news back in July that Rumer Willis was going to play a “punky cute lesbian” (not my words) on “90210,” I’ve been dying to see the iron-jawed offspring of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore kiss one of the show’s female characters. By which I mean: I’d forgotten “90210″ existed, and a TV series jumping the shark with a lesbian kiss barely registers on my consciousness except to recognize it as a death knell.

Anyway, the CW released this still of Rumer kissing Jessica Lowndes, who I admit is very attractive. But I just don’t know why shows think this will stir up additional viewers. I mean, if a person online is savvy enough to find the production still of Willis and Lowndes kissing, then that person is also probably capable of Googling “lesbian kiss” or “girls kissing” — and that’s a one-way ticket to the Double End section of Dildotown. I’ve heard that neighborhood’s really gentrifying.
