HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME

Close the door and buckle your sweatpants, nerds, because this is the coolest mash-up I’ve seen in ages: “Battlestar galactica-sabotageGalactica” set to the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” with the scenes cut to mirror the iconic ’90s/faux-’70s music video (see the incredible side-by-side video below, via BuzzFeed).

Now, granted, I may be overhyping the coolness slightly because “Sabotage” automatically makes anything 30% better (seriously, try having sex while it’s playing on your stereo). But I doubt it. As someone who rarely spends more than an hour writing anything, the time that must have gone into making this video is mind-boggling to me. The only way you could improve this concept is if it was three minutes of Tricia Helfer pole-dancing set to “Sabotage.” It wouldn’t be as faithful to the Beasties’ video, but then, it wouldn’t need to be, now would it?

‘THE SOPRANOS’ + ‘WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE’

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be interested in a mash-up of a movie that came out six months ago and a TV show that ended almost three years ago, but this video is pretty solid. What it lacks in timeliness it makes up for in execution.

Because TV talking heads had the brilliant realization that Where the Wild Things Are voice actor James Gandolfini previously starred in “The Sopranos,” the Internet naturally matched Tony Soprano lines to WTWTA video. The result: a monster swearing at a child. Frankly, I think it’s pretty realistic. I mean, when kids imagine monsters, it makes sense for them to sound like mommy’s boyfriend when he’s angry.

THE BEYONCE-ANDY GRIFFITH MASH-UP

At long last, here’s a video procured from the InterWebs that isn’t about NBC’s tribulations of late: a mash-up of Beyoncé’s earworm-inducing “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and the infectious whistling of the theme to “The Andy Griffith Show” (see below). I think it was engineered by scientists to be a Frankentein of songs that get stuck in your head for days on end.

Despite that, I recommend giving it a watch and a listen; it really is pretty decent. I think I’m going to automatically whistle the “Andy Griffith” theme every time I hear the original “Single Ladies” from now on — kinda like how Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” no longer sounds complete to me if it doesn’t have the guitar riff from “Helter Skelter” because of Danger Mouse’s Grey Album. (By the way, the only words my parents recognized in that previous sentence were “Andy Griffith” and “Helter Skelter.”)
