Here’s an extended look at NBC’s forthcoming “Perfect Couples,” which will become part of NBC’s three-hour Thursday comedy block in January (when “Parks and Recreation” also returns). It stars Olivia Munn, the waitress from “Always Sunny,” and some other people as three couples who are friends. Hey, maybe they should have called it “Friends.”

As you can see from the video, it perfectly captures the way that every woman… hogs the bed? Really? That’s how they want to lead off their marketing of the show? With a not-all-that common foible that is generally solved with a half-conscious shove? I may like Olivia Munn more than a lot of Internet critics, but this doesn’t get an early vote of confidence from me. Verdict: MORE SLAVE LEIA METAL BIKINI.

Olivia Munn, the hot-button nerd-baiter turned “Daily Show” correspondent, is featured in the newest GQ, and she looks absolutely terrific. People are making fun of the banner picture because she’s making an angry face with her hands in front of her crotch, but I like to think that she’s dancing to Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It.” At least, that’s what I look like when I dance to “Push It.” With the exposed bra and everything.

Anyway, you can read the article here. It’s barely more than a blurb, but it talks about her ascent from “Attack of the Show!” to “The Daily Show” and NBC’s new sitcom “Perfect Couples,” as well as some of the ire she’s gotten because of it. And frankly, I’m tired of the Olivia Munn backlash. No, she isn’t the hottest woman on the planet, but she’s still very attractive. She may not be the greatest actress, but she’s better than a lot of other actresses who get plenty of work. And yeah, some of her antics on G4 may have been annoying. But she’s a hot girl with a sense of humor who isn’t afraid to wear a Slave Leia costume, and people bitch about her. This is why we can’t have nice things, Internet.

Olivia Munn has been in the center of feminist discussion recently. After her debut as a “The Daily Show” correspondent a few weeks back, Jezebel wrote about “The Daily Show’s” supposed “woman problem,” with predictable jabs directed at Munn’s sex appeal. Earlier this week, Salon featured an essay that discussed an excerpt from Munn’s book in which she reveals that the crew for her non-nude Playboy shoot cajoled and pushed her to work outside the contract and go nude (she didn’t). In every case, Munn’s good-natured willingness to embrace her sex appeal makes her less credible — as a comedian, as an actress, as a woman — in the eyes of her detractors.

Anyway, that’s a long introduction for Munn’s second “Daily Show” segment (video below), in which she serves as the “Senior Espionage Correspondent” for the show’s examination of the Russian spy ring that was brought down this week. All in all, I’d say it’s pretty good: while she still hasn’t perfected her banter with Jon Stewart, I still got a couple laughs out of it, and I could see her getting better as she grows more comfortable with the scripted format. And yeah: I like the way she looks in a tight blouse. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I mean, it works for Fox News, right?

Here’s “Attack of the Show” host Olivia Munn’s ad for PETA in which she poses nude to convince us to boycott the circus. Hmmm, I dunno, I would have liked to see her argument fleshed out a little more, wink wink nudge nudge. What I’m saying is, if she really cared about the elephants, she’d touch her vagina for us. C’mon Olivia, don’t be a prude. Think of the elephants.

Also, I don’t mean to put critical thought into this, but wasn’t the whole point of the celebrities taking it off for PETA so they could embody the tag line “I’d rather go naked than wear fur”? So how, exactly, does being naked fit in with boycotting the circus? Maybe she should be body painted to look like a tiger and it could read “I’d rather star in my own circus than support one that enslaves elephants.” Because as much as I like the concept of Olivia naked, I just don’t associate nudity with the circus. No matter how many clowns I have sex with.

Why people don’t walk cats. I laughed for most of this video’s 81 seconds. Nothing cheers me up quite like a miserable cat. Well, except “Garfield” comics. [Have You Seen This?!]
