‘Real World’ Star Sues MTV, Claims She Was Raped With a Tootbrush

10.28.11 Written by Matt

Tonya Cooley was a member of 2002′s “Real World: Chicago,” and since then she’s appeared as a Playboy Cybergirl of the Week and starred in Cinemax’s The Erotic Traveler 02: Lost in Ecstasy (sounds good). She has also appeared on eight seasons of the “Real World/Road Rules Challenge,” a career that is likely over now that she’s suing MTV and the castmates that allegedly raped her with a toothbrush.

Cooley’s lawsuit claims that while she was passed out — and MTV was filming — Santucci and Starkman “took another male participant’s toothbrush and rubbed the toothbrush around plaintiff’s genitals, including rubbing her labia and inserting the toothbrush into plaintiff’s vagina.”

But if she was passed out and didn’t object, is it really rape? Yes? Oh. I should probably write that down somewhere.

Cooley then alleges producers replaced the toothbrush and didn’t tell her what happened. She also says producers encouraged male cast members to “inappropriately touch female cast members’ bodies, including in intimate areas,” while stripped of their bathing suits. Apparently she and other female “Challenge” participants reported the incidents, but MTV didn’t do anything about it. [Zap2it via TMZ]

If this is true, it’s a pretty terrible and disgusting act. But not surprising. In fact, MTV has “you might get raped” built into its reality contracts. Seriously. Remember when the standard “Real World” contract leaked? It’s right there in Stipulation 7:

The Best Song About Rape Ever Made

08.02.10 Written by Matt

Last week, Antoine Dodson soared to Internet stardom with his impassioned interview on the Huntsville news (see: “They rapin’ everyone out here”). Well, the geniuses at Auto-Tune the News went to work on that clip and created the finest song about rape the world has ever heard. Yes, better than Nirvana’s “Rape Me.” Better than Stone Temple Pilots’ “Sex Type Thing.” Better even than “Hold Her Down” by Toad the Wet Sprocket.

Um, not that I have an iTunes playlist of songs about rape or anything.

Anyway, if you’re looking for more Antoine Dodson goodness, watch the video below in which a calmer, more reserved Dodson gives a follow-up interview to the news station that made him famous. Or do what I did and just watch the “Bed Intruder Song” three more times. What can I say, the lyrics just really speak to me.

‘They Rapin Everybody Out Here’

07.29.10 Written by Matt

Rape is not a funny matter. It’s a terrible, terrible thing that we shouldn’t laugh at. But since the news clip below is only about an attempted rape, feel free to laugh away.

The star of the video is the man in the banner image, Antoine Dodson. He heard his sister screaming and prevented the intruder from raping her. Not only is he a hero, he’s a faaaaaabulous hero. A hero with attitude. A hero who’s going to FIND you, so you can run and tell that. Homeboy.

OMG, It’s the Rapist?!?!

07.07.10 Written by Strange Botwin

I sent this breaking news piece to Matt a few months back, but he said something about rape not being funny.  Now that I’m manning the helm, I feel compelled to share this local news gaffe to prove that  small-market news teams can compete with the  high-levels of chicken f**king prowess that New York’s Ernie Anastos and the rest of the Fox 5 News Team consistently deliver.

Since nothing makes us Midwestern folks grab our lanterns and pitch-forks faster than a good old-fashioned serial rapist on the loose,  the local media was quick to exploit our fears in the form of a little “on the scene” reporting from Kansas City, NBC News affiliate reporter Larry Seward.

Annnnnd, cue fear mongering introduction, token interview with distressed, doe-eyed white girl, and finally the revealing police sketch that looks eerily similar to…. don’t just stand there camera guy, get him!

UMMMM… HELP ME OUT HERE

10.22.09 Written by Matt

All right, I don’t like to get into politics, because the the subject matter is complex and confusing and unsexy. And I know that I’m a week behind the issues here. But… did I miss something? Rape is still bad, right? And gang rape is even worse than regular rape, yes? I’m not making that up, am I?

Thirty senators voted against an amendment to keep the government from hiring companies that prevent their employees from suing if they get raped. Not a big, complex bill — an amendment. THIRTY SENATORS. For rape. Three-tenths of America’s upper legislature. Is this really 2009? Did I wake up in a Arab state? In the year 1735? And if so, how am I using the Internet? HOLY HELL. Honey, break out my dick-punchin’ gloves. We’re going to Washington.
